Muzzin-Brodie shut down the Bolts top liners in the playoffs.

Klingberg is not a guy you want facing top competition.

That's why I think finding Reilly a partner would be my priority even more so then a FW

You have that stabilized you can go muzzin Brodie all year

Related question. Who played on the right on the Gardiner Rielly pairing all those years ago?
They didn't play a lot together but Rielly shifted to the right when they did.

A lot of people seem to have forgotten that Rielly actually played most of a season on the right, next to Matt Hunwick. But I personally felt that he took off the next year when he moved back to the left.

Maybe the Kadri market dries up terribly and he comes home on a 1-year to win with us and then cash out when the market gets better for him :sarcasm:

(I'm half joking, half hoping this happens)
Haha I hear you. There's always that guy that gets too greedy and ends up with half of what engine was expecting. Each day I get a little more hopeful.

But you just know Arizona gonna use the equalization money we send them every year and overpay him.

Wasn't Hunwick the one at RD?
Ugh, that does sound right. I swear Rielly played on the right side with one of his partners. Hainsey 100% played on the right, so it wasn't him. I think Rielly also played a year with Marincin? But can't remember who shifted over.

It would be possible to get Marino, if they would accept something like Kerfoot and Robertson. Also would have to trade Holl and fill out the roster with super super cheap dudes. As an example :

Bunting Matthews Marner
Nylander Tavares Malgin
Raffl Kampf Engvall
Clifford Gaudette Aube-Kubel
Simmonds

Rielly Marino
Muzzin Brodie
Gio Lily
Sandin

Marincin was on the right for that too. You're right Rielly has gone on the Right in a pinch before. And was the one who shifted right when him and Gardiner were together. But it's never been ideal at all for him

And... he would get suspended for the duration of the playoffs.

Where is this Marino rumour coming from? Or is it just pure speculation?
Why would the Pens trade him?

Apparently a team (not sure which one) almost traded for him recently and Vancouver is still tying to get him. I just saw that on the main boards. Not sure where they got that info from.

Found the other tweet...

Also they recently got another D on the same side I think so now people are thinking he's going to get traded.

The scuttlebutt is they have to move a D out to get Kapanen signed...but I can't see it being Marino. Probably Pettersson

I'd kick tires hard on Chychrun if he can play right side.

Probably get BBQd for this:

Nylander + Knies + Holl
For
Chychrun + Crouse

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Crouse - Tavares - Robertson (strong camp)

Rielly-Chychrun
Muzzin-Brodie
Giordano-Liljgren
Sandin

I’m pretty much open to the Miller trade now. Willing to move Sandin and a 1st, as long as they retain 2 mill, take Kerfoot and add in Luke Schenn. That would leave us about 4 million to throw at Paul Stastny and Zach Aston-Reese

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Miller - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Kampf - Aston-Reese
Robertson - Stastny - Aube-Kubel

Rielly - Liljegren
Muzzin - Brodie
Giordano- Schenn

It's now or never. Clock's ticking on AM's contract.

I like the lineup. My only concern is a 1st and Sandin for 1 year of Miller. I’m not saying I wouldn’t do it, but that’s hard to part with knowing we likely would lose him next summer. Unless you keep Miller and flip Nylander next summer, which I suppose could be done. Ideally I would obviously prefer to keep both lol

believing things like this is why we can never get past the first round. Brodie was a terrible defenseman for all of 2022. For the sake of talking I will assume you are right about Brodie....well he still sucked against non top-liners and it cost the series so who cares. Muzzin I am very fond of but it's nothing personal. Age and health, he can't be trusted to carry us far it's time to either move on or shelter him during regular season.

Either way, if you have to shelter your best physical guy that's not a sign your team is well built.

Muzz-Brodie got the top matchups in the playoffs.

Brodie +5
Muzz +4

Kucherov -5, 3 even strength pts
Stamkos -2, 2 even strength pts
Point -6, 1 even strength pts

Muzz-Brodie dominated that matchup.
You really shouldn't allow facts to get in the way here. You know that facts are meaningless now next to "feelings", right?
