If they seen Benn as the physical 7th D, than that solves that. Based on this, we have one more 4th line/bottom 6 forward need, and a middle 6 need. Now if they trade Muzzin which seems likely given Dubas's comments, than this all looks different. I think Holl is gone for sure

Muzzin-Brodie shut down the Bolts top liners in the playoffs.

Klingberg is not a guy you want facing top competition.
People seem to forget that. That pair was outstanding and it's not to laugh about all though someone will. Some are just misrable

What comments did Dubas make with respect to Muzzin? I'm out of the loop. lol

Fair point. Now what do we think about swapping Nylander (from Calgary) for tkachuk? Dont know what the other pieces in the deal would be. I think a tkachuk battle of Ontario would be fascinating to watch and he provides more grit up front and may want to leave since gaudreau left?

Benn and Mete being lefties with Dahlstrom already under contract does make me suspicious with the Sandin situation.

Maybe Dubas is working on something to bolster the ride side and move Sandin.
Benn and mete both play both sides. Don’t see this as anything against Sandin.

I wonder if now we just wait to see who doesn't get signed and might sign cheaper a few weeks from now. If we need to we can make a move to free up some cap then too.

He said he prefers Sandin on the left side. Thats strange considering he has 3 players ahead of him. Gio and Rielly aren't going anywhere. He did't mention Muzzin but that comment about Sandin opens the door for a Muzzin trade

Doesn't Gio play the right side?

Anybody got the low-down on rem pitlick? 37 points in 66 games between the habs and wild averaging about 15 min/game. Still 25 yrs old. No QO. Seems ripe for a cheap deal here.
An option that has been mentioned. I'd be all over that

He can but he hasn't here. He was on the left side with either Liljegren or Holl on the right.

Related question. Who played on the right on the Gardiner Rielly pairing all those years ago?

I think it was mostly Jake but then again the brief time Babs put Muzz-Rielly together he hated it but I thought it worked great. I'd love to see a Gio-Mo pairing.

IIRC, (and I might not) did that need ever really arise though? First, Muzzin was out with injury and then it was Sandin's "turn". Oddly enough, Brodie played a fair amount on his natural side due to the greater need actually being at LD. Regardless, I suppose Dubas would still have to move someone if he prefers Sandin on the left (and perhaps one of the other lefties on their offhand side instead)?

Muzzin-Brodie - excellent top matchup shutdown pair who handled the Bolts top lines great in the playoffs

Giordano-Rielly - gio is still great at getting pucks but needs more help moving them now and Mo is the perfect partner. Mo gets turnstiled on the left side anyways so won't be any worse that way on the right. Rushing up the right side might even help Mo cut to the net more often instead of circling around the back.

Sandin-Liljegren - one of the best bottom pairs in hockey last year gets one year older.

Maybe the Kadri market dries up terribly and he comes home on a 1-year to win with us and then cash out when the market gets better for him :sarcasm:

(I'm half joking, half hoping this happens)
