I'm having trouble picturing Jagr contributing that much. But I guess a 1 year deal wouldn't be a risk.
I'm getting kinda tired of hearing this crap about his ego. Jagr is not the same immature being he was about a decade ago when he was with the Caps. He really is far from egotistical. So regardless of where he would play, he certainly is not selfish, stubborn, or egocentric anymore.

And that is the problem. This organization has continually ignored offensive depth. Tortorella leaned on a defensive system because of the personnel he had. They lost to the devils in the ECF because of not having 4 formidable lines. They need more offensive depth. If their defense and goaltending is that good then they would focus more on offense.

I know. I doubt Sather will because he is the stubborn one who probably still has an issue with how things ended with Jagr,I agree. I find the thought of Jagr back with the Rangers intriguing, but I doubt Sather is willing.
Jagr is probably my favorite player of all time, but look at the team's he's played with his whole career. He's always been in a 1rst line role, 2nd line role at worst in the brief stint at Boston. Jagr isn't going to pinch pennies and sign for a depleted role on the Rangers when there are desperate teams on the wings that'll offer him a top 6 spot. The Red Wings for example should have mutual interest with each other. They need a winger with Datsyuk/Zetterberg on the right side badly with departure of Filppula. He'll keep cashing in the NHL until he retires.

Doesn't Filp play center. How would Jagr be replacing him? And while Detroit may have interest as well, I'd still like Sather to inquire.
Dupuis signed 4 yrs at 3.75mil per. That's a hell of bang-for-buck contract.
$3.75 million will make Jagr's contract even more affordable.

Dupuis had 38 points and is 8 years younger. I don't see Jagr getting north of $3.5I see him getting 4-4.5m on one year deal, like his contract with.

I think the pens are idiots for signing him long term personallyForget discount, Dupuis took a going out of business, everything must go liquidation sale. In this market he could have easily suckered someone into 6M+.

Lecavalier, 34, wanted a five-year deal, and got it from the Philadelphia Flyers, at a rate of $4.5 million per season. Clarkson, of New Jersey, is pushing for seven years at a $6 million average; this for a guy who has one 30-goal season to his credit. Boston’s Nathan Horton wants to play in a warm climate. That makes Florida’s Weiss the likeliest new face on the team; he’s a four-time 20-goal scorer who should help the team’s offense.

The Wings are looking to add to their top-six forward group, because Valtteri Filppula will be lost via free agency to some team who will give him more than the $4 million a season the Wings consider him worth.
Ryane Clowe
Unlike Bryan Bickell, who picked a very good time to have a great playoff run and received a very substantial raise over the $600,000 he earned last season (four years/$16 million), Clowe picked a very bad time to have a dismal playoff run. Like Bickell, Clowe plays a rugged, physical game and has twice topped the 20-goal plateau. But Clowe had not scored a single goal at the time he was traded by San Jose to the New York Rangers at the March trade deadline. He finished the season with three goals and 16 points in 40 games and missed most of the Rangers' playoff games with an undisclosed injury.
Riskometer reading: Orange (reddens as length of term increases)
Clowe is the reverse Bickell decision. While Bickell brought a relatively small body of work to the negotiating table and was richly rewarded for it, Clowe presents an established résumé of bona fide top-nine performance on good playoff teams, with a lockout-shortened asterisk beside it. To that end, he may actually be seeking more money than what was awarded to Bickell. Clowe's representatives will likely argue that Bickell's contract is merely a floor for their more experienced client. That floor could have some foundation issues if the small sample of the 2013 season is Clowe's new reality.
Agreed. Briere was horribrutal last year, Stalberg is meh, Jagr is 84, Raymond is Hagelin-lite, Clarkson is streakier than the weather. There's nothing out there.
