Agree, but this team still needs some help. Need a scoring wing, bottom 6, and a true #5, 6 defense man...

i want Rob Scuderi.. he is from Long Island. i just hope Islanders dont sign him... 2 times he signed with teams and won a cup. 3rd time is a charm hopefully for NY Rangers :yo:

sign Scuderi Lapiere Raymond Nystrom... trade Powe Boyle and Pyatt for depth, prospects or picks..

Kreider Stepan Nash
Hagelin Richards Callahan
Zuccarello Brassard Raymond
Miller Lapierre Asham/Nystrom

Kristo one of the first call ups along with Lindberg Fast Yogan

Staal Girardi
McDonagh Moore
Stralman Scuderi
Del Zotto Falk
Syvret

best depth on defense so far..

Why does a coach come in and say "these are the types of lines I am going to use?" We need a coach to come in and adjust his style to the personnel we have to get the most out of them. Forcing players into roles they are not accustomed to or equipped for is a recipe for failure. Isn't this the problem we had with Torts? That he forced guys into his style of play?

Also, I think Brassard should play with Nash and Kreider and Stepan should play with Richards and Zuccarello. I like the Richards on the wing idea. Then Boyle Hags Cally is your shutdown D line if you need to have it that way. 4th line Lindberg Dorsett Pyatt/Asham.

IMO everyone writing off Pyatt is wishful thinking. I hope I'm wrong, but I think he'll be on the ice this season.

Rangers really do not need to sign UFA's. There are very roster spots open to begin with. Kreider, Lindberg, Miller, Fast and McIlrath all will be fighting for spots.

It would be wise to let a coach who understands offense to coach the players and prospects we have before panicking and thinking the answers aren't on the current roster.

This "two scoring lines, one defensive line, one energy line" thing is getting a little over exaggerated. If AV doesn't have the right personnel to make it happen, it won't happen.

Richards on the wing is a terrible idea.

The whole point to not buying him out was to have depth down the middle.

You don't pay a guy 6.6 per to be a #1 center and then put him on the wing.

Just trade Del Zotto for a young forward, buy out Richards and be done with it.

Too Much turnover for one. Don't you realize that was the rangers issue this past season? We couldn't figure out our identity, line combos, style of play all year. We ended up shipping out our 40 goal scorer in Gaborik when we were supposed to be cup contenders after going to game 6 in the ECF. Look at what the Flyers are doing yet again.

The Rangers are not trading Boyle. He is a very serviceable player and he really does not make much even though I know many of you blow it up out of proportion. He is a locker room guy who plays hard. He picked up his game in the playoffs. He should and will stay.

I hope your defense combos are not a representation of what you see the depth chart as. MDZ as a #7? He is a 40+ point defenseman who in AV's system could be a 50-55+ defenseman. People here are severely underestimating the 23 year old.

No to Laperriere because he just doesn't fit/

And we will only be signing one winger IF we sign any.

I don't understand how the Flyers were able to reach a contract with VL yesterday?
Today is the first day of the "negotiating period" is it not?

Riskometer reading: Orange (reddens as length of term increases)

Wade Redden is now a verb :sarcasm:
Exactly what I was thinking.

Not happening so please stop dwelling on it. Both are here to stay for this year. Del Zotto will be staying long term if the cap does go up.

I'd give Del Zotto another chance under AV. If he has a bad year, then I'd be fine with moving him. Who knows, maybe the coaching change will work wonders for him.

Can you give me the winning power ball numbers?

Be a sarcastic ******* all you want. Or you can read some of the reports/articles RB has been posting the past couple days about the salary cap in the upcoming years based on what the owners and GMs are saying. You want to keep dreaming of richards being bought out (even though the team has stated he is staying) and del zotto being dealt (even though he is still here after the draft) then so be it. Del Zotto is our best offensive defenseman while being 23 years old and doing it in a defensive minded system; and on a good contract. What isn't adding up for you because it really is simple math.

People realize that AV wants a shut-down line and an energy line but that the team will most likely work towards that this season and into next off-season. They have the personnel to have (3) scoring lines and a energy/shut-down 4th.

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
MZA-Brassard-Callahan
Hagelin-Richards-Fast/Kristo/Hrivik/Miller
Haley/Mashinter/UFA-Boyle-Dorsett

All that I ask is that they trade Pyatt, Powe and Asham. Let some younger players come in and battle for spots.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 12m
So VAN's Keith Ballard, for example, will be on unconditional waivers today so he can be bought out by tomorrow's 5 pm ET deadline.

He would be a good depth signing. Very physical, has a good shot from the point.

Its tough because neither of those bottom 2 lines fit the AV two scoring lines, shut down line, energy line mold. and thats a TON of defense. I just dont see the point of keeping Del Zotto if he's going to be the 7th dman.

We could also have a shut down line than can also score. imagine that. something like Hagelin-Brassard-Callahan. so (3) scoring lines with one being a shut down line sounds good to me.

Agree, and with ties to A.V., might consider a lesser deal to sign here and be comfortable in the system from the get go. Or he could possibly hate A.V. and not even consider it. ...

Seriously. how many defensemen do we need lol. Are we trying to become the opposite of the Flyers?

People have short term memory. They forget the year he had the year before. They also forget that he was playing with a sports hernia for part of this season.

I seriously doubt the Rangers have any intention of trading him. All the talk about trading Staal and/or MDZ is just fans with a case of "what have you done for me lately".
