trading Del Zotto will make 2.9 next year and Boyle 1.8 next year...

rather give that 4.7 to Mikhail Grabovski and the other UFA

And you are trading them for no players in return?

That makes them a worse team, and the rangers already have good depth at center, Richards, brass, Stepan, Boyle, and it's very likely Miller makes the team, plus Lindbergh may be ready to play some bottom 6 minutes

first and 2ed round picks. if Rangers can get a top 5 drafted overall player for Del Zotto and Boyle you take that chance..

I'd prefer to trade for a winger in stead. Grabovski is not making us any better. Our Center depth is fine. Trading for a player like Eberle makes more sense (but we don't have the capspace at the moment).

Acquiring him would have made sense after a Richards buy out, but at the moment, he is not our guy

i wonder what players are up Sather's radar if any

Fortunately he has very little money to spend. So that likely means just some depth or 4th line players

it very well could be a blessing in disguise.

Thing is I dont love the top 6. They have 3 Cs that should be top 6. Not sure how they can move Stepan to the wing since he did so well. Brassard has played the wing before but he was great at C. Richards stunk but has he ever played LW? Dont think so

Hagelin is a perfect 3rd line LW but he may need to play top 6 with Kreider and Zuc being wildcards

The center thing has four solutions.

1. Brassard is traded for a two way center (richards won't be possible to trade, and don't think anyone still wants to move Stepan)
2. Richards/Stepan/Brassard move to wing
3. Stepan gets moved to the '3rd' line which is the defensive two way line
4. They play all three lines as a top 6 line and the 4th line is the defensive line, which essentially makes the 3rd line the 4th energy line... So hard to tell if that would work, would need to really roll lines

As for Hagelin, don't think he or Cally will even be ready for the season

Bottom line without a trade Kreider is going to have to be a legit talent this season and Richards has to bounce back to be a serious contender

Id rather keep Boyle than trade him so we can overpay Grabovski. Grabo doesnt bring anything Stepan, Brassard, and Richards dont. Boyle does.

Plus Miller, Kristo, Lindberg, Fast, whoever else will have to replace Hags and Cally for at least a while

here comes a bit of a rant, but I gotta get this off my chest...
Are some people really upset the Rangers probably won't be signing any UFA's (at least not any big names)? Over the years many have wanted the Rangers organization to let the kids play develop and build the team from within. Because of the Rangers cap situation this season they basically have to do that, and now some are not happy that the Rangers most likely won't sign any UFA's this offseason?

It is kind of frustrating, personally I like the prospects we have and I'm fine with letting them develop. I know some here are not fans of Kreider and want to trade him, but give him another year or 2 to develop. The great news in a cap world would be him coming off only 1 decent season (next year hopefully) out of his 3 year entry level contract and the Rangers get to sign him long term at a bargain of a salary. I am also excited with a number of the Rangers other prospects.

Last offseason nobody wanted zucc resigned (well scratch that, I did and a few others did too), but the majority wanted nothing to do with him on the Rangers anymore. Zucc resigned during the season came back and now most people are excited to get him resigned with the Rangers for a few more years.

Just a few things I have wanted to get off my chest and this seemed like the perfect spot.

I'm happy we don't have the cap space to sign UFAs because now we see if some kids are ready to make the jump, there are a number of young players hungry and motivated to make the squad. I am excited for training camp to see who wins spots. But for now I will enjoy the offseason with UFA signings around the league to see what teams put themselves in horrible spots. So far the winners seem to be Philly and Pitts not much wiggle room short term, but probably in decent shape long term in the cap keeps increasing.

I know some people will rip into me for saying some things, which is fine you're entitled to your own opinion just as I am. I feel this team needs some small tweaking, but I like the team we had finish up in the playoffs and with some tweaks with bringing in some young players I feel this will be a real exciting team to watch this season and I look forward to enjoying the games and posting on here as I do every season!

My guess for tomorrow?

Pyatt is traded.

Grabovski is signed for 4 years to play LW which he can do.

Blum is signed for depth on the blue line.

Would sign off on that. Have liked Grabo's game for awhile now. Wouldn't mind Jagr back on a 1 year deal either. Obviously it's one or the other. I feel like Grabo might be a little bit out of our price range though.

Tried kicking the tires on JVR on the trade board. Safe to say they're not interested in MDZ. :help:

We really need to make a Schenn for JVR or Goligoski for Neal kind of deal... What winger can we get that's young, has potential, but has not blown up enough yet to cause a king's ransom of a demand?

along with a Lapierre signing. i would not mind Grabovski on this team.. he would help the PP that is for sure.. i hope Sather tries for him... low risk high reward type transaction

A taste of Grabovski on Carlyle: "Don’t put me on a [expletive] third line and then [expletive] play [me] six minutes in a game."

I don't want this guy on my team.

i want to get bobby ryan.. if flyers were rumors Coburn, 11th overall for Ryan or something like that....

I would give up..

MDZ, Pyatt(cap), Lindberg/Fast, 1st/2nd for Ryan

Ryan-Stepan-Callahan
Kreider-Richards-Nash
Haglin-Brassard-Kristo/Fast/Miller
Haley/Mash-Boyle-Dorsett
haley/Mash

Mcd-Girardi
Staal-Stralman
Moore-Falk/McIrath
Eminger

would try and get blum..
