GDT: Free Agent Frenzy/2013 Offseason Thread: Part VII: OMGZZZ SATHER DO SOMETHING

damn it.. i was always hoping Eriksson would be on the Rangers.. very underrated player.. Bruins won this deal...
 
Love this trade for both teams, but mostly to Boston.

Fraser is a big, rugged, blue-collar LWer, Bruin type player and Smith plays a skilled game. Both played together in the AHL. Fraser scored 33 goals in 62 GP for the Stars AHL team, only 22 yrs old. Not to mention Joe Morrow, top PMD prospect.

Marchand-Bergeron-Eriksson
Fraser-Spooner-Smith
Paille-Campbell-Kelly

And Soderberg who looked good in his 2 playoff games I thought.
 
Boston is absolutely stacked at defense. Even if they trade Boychuk, Hamilton takes his place, and one of Bartkowski, Morrow, Smith, and Krug takes Ference's place. Think they trade Krug while his value is high?

Jesus. Their depth is absolutely ridiculous. On LW, C, D and G. Only thing that's shady is RW.
 
Former Flyer, Sabre and Coyote Danny Briere just signed a 2 year $8 million deal with Montreal.
 
So Boston is still up against the cap, lost Seguin, Horton, Jagr, Peverley and gained Eriksson and some prospects. Not sure this makes them better at all.

How are they gonna afford either player unless they trade someone or buy someone out but who and why

Right, so being soft isn't the problem. Rangers have a nice mix of size, especially if kreider and miller stick

Signing older goons is the same terrible approach this team always takes, I'd rather have guys who can play
 
I would expect the floodgates to open with trades and signings after the Seguin-Eriksson trade. The next 24 hours are going to be busy.
 
can sather please trade mdz already... his value won't be any more then it is currently . OFD are getting paid this offseason..
