Not a fan. If we add someone it should be middle 6 C.

I used to play sporadically and was crap but last 12 months or so been playing with guys from work. Whoever finishes last buys beers after the game. I got sick and tired of constantly paying. 92 is my PB. Used to struggle to go under 100. 83 is a really good score man.

As I just wrote in my post just now, we are going to need to get creative in even finding a middle 6 C. But there is no one I trust more in finding one than our GM...agreed?

Golf is a maddeningly frustrating yet exhilarating sport/hobby whatever you want to call it. I started playing late in my life...30 and so I've only been playing 24 years. Had I not thought it was a ***** sport in my early 20's, I probably would be shooting in the high 70's as I've always been a good athlete but golf is more than just athleticism. It's as much mental as it is physical.

But yeah thanks...the 83 I shot was actually about 2 months ago and I was just en fuego that day. I've been on a nice roll lately like Gorton...hopefully it continues.....

Barring trades our wingers are pretty set. Kreider, Zucc, Nash, Buch, Fast, Grabner, Vesey, Miller.

Hope Tkachev has a good camp (assuming he comes, which he seems to be) and makes it an even harder choice.

Summary:

Hayes is not a top 6.
Zib might or might not be ready for 1C duty
We have a log jam of wingers and d men
We have 6M in cap space once we resign Zib, Fast, trade Holden and Klein's money comes off the books.

Something doesn't add up. I smell a move.

Laying in the reeds for Duchene.

Tend to agree with this

Gorton didn't trade Stepan to do nothing with all the space. Don't buy it.

Especially knowing Gorton knows that being skilled down the middle is imperative to win in this league. He finally has his skilled blueline (we never had this in all of Hanks time) I don't think he's letting this golden opportunity pass for "futures" ... I think he takes one crack at KOing the Pens and winning it all. I'm not saying he's selling everyone off, but with the amount of young depth and the prospects we have plus years of first and second rounders (if we draft well we will be fine down the line) he will evaluate his surplus of D and forwards and look to make the team more complete and dynamic (especially down the middle)

Our wingers are silly good. Especially if Vesey and Buch can improve.

Something along that line has been my thinking from the minute they traded Stepan. I said if JG is comfortable moving him he must also be comfortable with knowing he can move something in surplus (wingers and D) for something of need (a centerman).

Is it Duchene? Who knows. Joe is nuts. If he comes back to reality I think it's possible. Is there something else none of us are thinking about? Maybe. But he has a plan for someone up the middle who is more of a top 6 than a bottom 6.

As I said before, I would love if we signed Grigorenko as I think he's a low-risk, high-reward guy, but these Russian busts have been worrisome:

Nail, Burmistrov, Radulov (up until this year), Nichushkin, Filatov

I mean these guys were considered can't miss guys, no?

Seriously. Impossible to say this considering how much variety there is now. If you mean mass-produced stuff, that's fair. But with all the new Craft stuff on the market you can't make such a blanket statement. Too far!

I was saying mass produced. Craft is another world.

I don't think its fair to call Radulov a bust. He just straight up left the NHL.

Jury is still out on Nichuskin as well.

Girardi got 6M as well.

and people are complaining about what we gave Smith lol

Trust me, buddy. I can see the future. We will regret Smith's contract (17.4 million and an NTC for someone who hasn't broken 20 points in a single season) more than TB will regret Girardi's.

Kucherov, Panarin, Zaitsev, Tarasenko...

On the other hand:

Luke Schenn, Gudbranson, Connolly, Jack Johnson.

Russian busts are just as easy to find as Canadian or American busts

Is bereglazov a natural LHD or RHD? Everyone has been shoving every defenseman that has ever opened a door with their right hand into the RHD spot for so long it's getting confusing. Smith played the left side but can play the right side as well if I recall. Holden is a natural LHD as well but can play the right side.

GG....I know you were one of the more outspoken peeps in here who thought both we weren't going to sign Shatty and/or you didn't want us to sign him.

Unless I missed it which is quite possible as there have been thousands of comments since JG pulled it off getting Shatty, now that the Shatty signing has been consummated, curious as to know your feelings now that we ended up getting Shatty.

You on board or you still thinking we shouldn't have went this route?

Left hander that played the right side.

Left-handed defenseman who played on the right side most of the time the last 2 years at least (didn't really follow him before that)

You really believe this?

So hypothetically, if Smitty plays as well as he did once he got acclimated with the team by end of regular season and especially in the playoffs, you think there is going to be regret here in Ranger land both with management and the fan base?

My opinion, if Smith even plays like 90% of the guy we saw in the playoffs, most of us will be more than happy with him being in a top 4 role.

Wondering why you are so down on Smith as it's not points or goals scored where Smith makes his true impact as it's more in his toughness, grit and defensive play.

I fully expect his production to go up on this team.

Your dominant hand should be your top hand on a hockey stick. So opening a door with your right hand should actually make you a left handed player. But obviously that's not always the case even with NHLers as it's more natural to use your dominant hand as your bottom hand. Just a fun fact not really relevant.

At this term? I have zero problem with this signing at all.

I never for one second believed that he wanted to play here THIS badly. I commend him for doing what he did, because its something that athletes never do and if he had taken the money I wouldn't have held it against him.

Dude is already a legend in my book, but I really hope that people aren't expecting him to come in and be that missing piece.
