If you guys are referring to Coors and Budweiser when you say "American beer" you're seriously missing out.

Go find a taproom with a good craft selection.

When I say Canadian Beer > American Beer, I'm speaking specifically in mass produced main stream company beer.

Micro and Craft is a whole other world of amazingness.

I love Bluepoint (Patchogue). I know there are a lot of microbreweries and the standard beers (Coors, Budweister, MGD) are as bad as the regular Dutch beers (Amstel, Heineken, Grolsch)

I don't think Bereglazov would go to Hartford. He has an out-clause. He needs to be in the NHL

That's going to be hard to accomplish now with Shattenkirk.

Mcd-Shatt
Skjei-Smith
Staal-

comes down to Bereglazov or DeAngelo.. DeAngelo has played in the NHL and is a RHD I would say he's ahead.

That's why it's a must to trade both Staal and Holden. A MUST

McD-Shatt
Skjei-Smith
Bereglazov-DeAngelo
Kampfer
Graves/Pionk as emergency call-ups

Or any variation of that if AV isn't comfortable with two rookies on the third pair

Canes got better today. Williams is such a good get for them. Unfortunately our division is stacked.

Brainstorm which is always dangerous I know(lol), throwing this out there just in case no centers become available in the trade market by time camp opens up:

If we were to make JTM a center heading into the season, would the addition of a Thomas Vanek not be the worst move in the world?

Yes he's 33 but he still is a PP force, he can still snipe with he best of them and he could fit in quite nicely with any combination of our fwds we have.

I don't know how much he'd cost but if we could get Vanek in the 2.3-2.5 x 2 neighborhood, I'd not have a problem whatsover with adding him to the club.

We'd still need a 4th line center but that could easily be taken care of by either dealing Vegas a 2018 4th for Oscar or maybe Andersson plays so well in camp, we are forced to let him play with the big boys from the get go.

What ya think boys about bringing in Vanek in the scenario I just painted?

Just back from the golf course(shot a 87 in case anyone was wondering..lol).

Any tweets, moves or rumours past 4-5 hours about who JG might be looking at to fill the center void?

Or are we looking at filling from within and simply making JT our defacto #2 center behind Mika along with Hayes and I guess either Boo or maybe even Lias Andy

87 is your PB isn't it?

We need to change the culture down the middle and stop with the "depth of 2 and 3C's and make a move for someone with speed and talent.

Actually 83 is my friend. Why did you think 87 was?

What's your best? Your from Aussie so I know you play as well.

Wow my 4,000th post. Only 52k behind ya Dark and I joined 6 years before ya...lol

Low 90s.

Cool...so you and I would have a good match if we played.

That said, what do you think of adding Vanek at a reasonable price?

Not a fan. If we add someone it should be middle 6 C.

I used to play sporadically and was crap but last 12 months or so been playing with guys from work. Whoever finishes last buys beers after the game. I got sick and tired of constantly paying. 92 is my PB. Used to struggle to go under 100. 83 is a really good score man.

Summary:

Hayes is not a top 6.
Zib might or might not be ready for 1C duty
We have a log jam of wingers and d men
We have 6M in cap space once we resign Zib, Fast, trade Holden and Klein's money comes off the books.

Something doesn't add up. I smell a move.

As amazing as JG is as a GM, he can't walk on water or at least I don't think he can.

Not sure who is available down the middle who would fill a #1A or even a a 1B role other than maybe Duchene or Galchenyuck maybe Mackinnon but I doubt he is available.

Do we try and put some feelers out there and get another 1B type like a Bryan Little? I might not be adverse to kicking the tires and seeing what Chevldayoff would want.

Would you want Eric Staal back now that he has proven he has quite a bit left in the tank? Maybe the fit now would be better...eh? Probably not.

Is a Tyler Johnson available? Doubtful. Bottom line GS is I'm sure JG will put feelers out there and it wouldn't totally shock me if he pulled something out of his ass but odds are, there are likely not 1A or 1B centers available to be had and so we might need to get creative and make Miller a center and get ourselves a winger who might help us more than what we currently have.

"In JG I Trust" is a mantra I go by and I'm sure we'll all be satisfied in whatever it is he ends up doing to fill this center void we got.

Seriously. Impossible to say this considering how much variety there is now. If you mean mass-produced stuff, that's fair. But with all the new Craft stuff on the market you can't make such a blanket statement. Too far!

Tend to agree with this

Gorton didn't trade Stepan to do nothing with all the space. Don't buy it.

I love what JG has done so far. But I've been steadfast on my theory that to win in this league you need 3 things: PMD skilled d men, depth throughout the lineup, and skill and speed up the middle. We have 2 of the 3. Our weakness up the middle was always bad, and now with Stepan gone it's even more glaring. There is nobody on the FA market that fits that bill. There might be one on the trade market if JG is creative and I have faith he can be.
