People were thinking this might be Marino to Vancouver for one of their good forwards, but it maybe it's Marino to the Sens with the hold up being with the Brown trade?
Ya I get all that but you said he waived to come here so obviously that wasn't a problem. Unless it came down to us or them and he said them.Just that his family appears to be very focused on "natural" diets and that they live in Texas.
Dorion is just breakng his back moving heaven and earth to build a squad; meanwhile, Yzerman is just dishing out cheap contracts to great players without breaking a sweat.
This may be Dorion's summer but it's still Yzerman's world.

I'd argue that's as important if not more than acquiring another D right now. Imagine 2023-2024 with a D of:I'd give Gubranson's contract to Zub everyday of the week and yesterday.
I'm not sure what Dorion said but I think Bokondji Imama could be a real target. I could also see Martin Frk and James Neal.So did Dorion say we are looking at NHL depth signings, or more organizational depth/AHL?
Currently we have 23 forwards, 12D, and 5G (although Merilainen, Boucher, and Ostapchuk may all go back to jrs).
I could see us having interest in guys like Geertsen, Perlini, Kief Sherwood, Imama, Buddy Robinson, Justin Bailey, Gawdin, Luff, Ritchie, Fasching, Rubins, Jeremy Davies, etc. Good AHLers with some NHL experience.
Yes if he was willing to waive, his family being in Texas at his ranch didn't seem to matter too muchThat's not right at all. I heard two pieces of information:
1. I heard that Brent Burns had expressed to the Senators that he was willing to waive to come to Ottawa.
2. Then (later) I heard that Burns' wife and kid weren't vaccinated.
I don't like that one bit. UghI'd argue that's as important if not more than acquiring another D right now. Imagine 2023-2024 with a D of:
Chabot - Zaitsev
Sanderson - Hamonic
Holden - JBD
Thomson
Yeesh.

Nice Gaudreau replacement. Our fifth C is moving up in the world!Clark Bishop is on his way to Calgary
Not sure Neal is our type of guy. Agreed that we will focus on guys with experience, but a 25yr old in the A is a lot more of a vet than a 25yr old in the NHLI'm not sure what Dorion said but I think Bokondji Imama could be a real target. I could also see Martin Frk and James Neal.
The Sens let all the vets walk in Belleville except for Heatherington so they will need to add. Imama gives them an enforcer, Frk gives them a elite scorer and Neal could be a good veteran and had strong production in the AHL this season.
Ya that is what I am wondering. Did the implications of them not being vaccinated and probably being a cluster f*** to come here make him end up in Carolina and not here ?It might be that he hadn't considered the implications for his family when he originally expressed interest.
My sense is that it wasn't the Senators that pulled the plug.

Why would you give that contract to Gudbransson? What a horrible deal for Columbus.. omg..

Any truth to the Formenton deal not being signed because of the Hockey Canada thing?
Dorion apparently dodged mentioning it.
I am not on any side of that subject as far as I am concerned people can do what they want. I do understand a parent not wanting to give it to their child since covid isn't exactly killing kids. But again I am not taking any side I am happy I don't have a child and have to be making that choice. No clue, but it's been 2 years and people aren't keeling over all over the place from the shot so I'm not exactly sympathetic.
We live in interesting times, what can I say?
