u f***er, almost believed this for a second
A trade proposal that will cause riots, Ceci coming back??? not happening, though I did enjoy the inclusion of the rights to grocery store bag boy Wikstrand (I had super high hopes for him).It was always meant to be a trade proposal. I don't know how anybody could have taken me copying the Senators template without any context as anything BUT a fantasy trade proposal. Also Thomas Chabot hates the city of Montreal.
We can't afford Whitecloud unless there's retention, and I don't think VGK would have any interest in retaining the 1-1.25 mil it would take to make it work for us.Ceci might have been an option if the Oilers wanted to open up some cap and a RD spot to re-sign Desharnais, but at this point he's clearly penciled into their 2nd pairing and is their 2nd best RD.
I think Whitecloud or Bear are more realistic options, but it sounds like Staios is high on Guenette and thinks he or JBD should be able to lock down that 3rd pairing RD spot.

Ya I think that's something the Oilers plan to address in season to upgrade on Ceci, but will roll with him for now.Ceci might have been an option if the Oilers wanted to open up some cap and a RD spot to re-sign Desharnais, but at this point he's clearly penciled into their 2nd pairing and is their 2nd best RD.

He's going to be in and out of the lineup for the Knights, doesn't have a fulltime spot locked up unless they trade away Theodore, which is a distinct possibility. Without trading Theodore, not sure they'd like to keep him around at that price as a pressbox/#6 guyWe can't afford Whitecloud unless there's retention, and I don't think VGK would have any interest in retaining the 1-1.25 mil it would take to make it work for us.
This is what I think. A lot seem to assume he won't be playing much or at all. I'll bet on 40+ games played for Hamonic this year with the way Staios has spoken about it and knowing the other 2 options have very few games under their belt in JBD and Kleven.I think the Front Office believes that Hamonic, free of injuries, can come back and play at his 2022-23 level (he's old but not THAT old, still 33, same age as Jensen), which wouldn't be spectacular, but definitely ok for a #6 D. In that case our depth is fine-ish, at least at RD.

I don't really disagree with any of this, I'd be happy with him at 1.5m, but I don't think VGK want to do that, they'd probably prefer to pay a team a draft pick to take him on rather than retaining 1.25m,He's going to be in and out of the lineup for the Knights, doesn't have a fulltime spot locked up unless they trade away Theodore, which is a distinct possibility. McCrimmon has already come out and said Korczak is an everyday player for the Knights this upcoming season, at best it would be a split between Whitecloud and he.
Not sure we should be adding a 2.75 guy to our bottom pair for the next 4 years, nor should we want him in our top 4 if we are trying to compete.
They have some juggling to do on the backend with Theodore and McNabb UFA's at the end of this season
Yeah, if Hamonic was fighting a lingering injury all year and they know it's resolved, they may be much more confident in him than the fans are.I think the Front Office believes that Hamonic, free of injuries, can come back and play at his 2022-23 level (he's old but not THAT old, still 33, same age as Jensen), which wouldn't be spectacular, but definitely ok for a #6 D. I think Hamonic is driven by family considerations, so I don't see Vegas as a top of the list destination for him,We can add Whitecloud if Hamonic goes the other way and we're comfortable with only 1 spare (JBD).
We have 1.909M in cap space with a 21/23 roster. If Hamonic goes the other way that's 3.09M in space. Whitecloud only costs 2.75M.
Hamonic has a NMC but it's not that difficult to imagine him waiving to play for one of the most attractive destinations in the league.
Bad is relative.Wasn’t Hamonic also bad in 22-23? It’s been a while but I seem to remember him being a drag on every pairing he was on.
CDH is from Ottawa as well. He'd be a perfect fit for us on the 3rd pairing.I could see us claiming one of the Avs' D that will get put on waivers.
They have Makar, Toews, Girard, Manson, Kylington, Brannstrom and De Haan on 1 way deals + MacDonald and Malinski on two-way deals.
Honestly Brannstrom is exactly what we need and I'd love to welcome him back if he hits waivers.
I think MacDonald may have some experience playing either side, but I could be wrong. He'd be a decent depth acquisition too. CDH certainly does but I think he'll stick with them because they have way too many puckmovers and not enough defensive D.
Biggest need for this team right now is a guy who can play the right side, but also play left side in case of injury.
People are overly focused on the right side, but what happens if Sanderson/Chabot gets injured or Kleven struggles in his rookie year? Beyond them the best LD we have is Roos or Davies - two guys who aren't exactly NHL caliber D.
Does anyone know what Hamonic's injuries are?I think the Front Office believes that Hamonic, free of injuries, can come back and play at his 2022-23 level (he's old but not THAT old, still 33, same age as Jensen), which wouldn't be spectacular, but definitely ok for a #6 D.
