You didn't have to say it . It clearly was lol
It was top of the list of waiver wire pick ups that we missed on that at the time we clearly needed.

As was the context of my post

If I say im annoyed my microwave is broken I’m not saying it’s at the top of the list of all problems anywhere in the world

If the Sens acquire Schenn, I think we'll break the hits record for a team.

Would be nice to see him and Brady having a combined dozen hits every game

1. Michael Amadio (2.6M x 3) + Travis Hamonic (1.1M x 1) + 2025 2nd round pick to ANA for Trevor Zegras (5.75M x 2)

- Zegras is disgruntled in Anaheim and there are question marks about his character. However, he's young and has elite level skills, which the Sens sorely need to complement Stützle. He could pan out to be Kyle Turris or Nikita Filatov. Anaheim receives two locker room/character guys, which their GM loves, and a 2nd round pick this year for their trouble.

2. Claude Giroux @50% (3.25M x 1) + Nick Cousins (800K x 1) to COL for 2025 2nd round pick (NYR) + 2026 1st round pick

- In the absence of Landeskog and Colton, Colorado adds a skilled veteran top 6 forward and a bottom 6 cup winner. In return, Ottawa receives a 2nd round pick this year and what's likely to be a late 1st round pick next year.

3. Brady Tkachuk (8.2M x 4) + Artem Zub (4.6M x 3) to NYR for Alexis Lafreniere (2.325M x 1 > 7.45M x 7 ext.) + Braden Schneider (2.2M x 2) + Gabe Perreault (unsigned) + Dylan Garand (825K x 1) + 2026 1st round pick

- The Tkachuk era in Ottawa is over and there's no need to wait until he has control over the trade to pull the trigger. It's Stützle's team. Tkachuk never was and will never be a franchise altering talent on his own. However, he's arguably the single best complementary piece in the league. Trading him at peak value would go a long way towards filling most of roster holes.

NYR acquires the best power forward in the league. In return, the Sens receive two high end pieces that have yet to assert themselves in the NHL in Laf and Schneider. They also acquire an "A" prospect in Perreault, one of the smartest/most cerebral players outside of the NHL, with an average shot, but amazing hands and passing. Meanwhile, Zub, a legitimate, physical top 4 defenseman (when he's healthy) is swapped for Garand, a promising G prospect and a mid to late 1st next year.

***Chabot and Norris are both playing up to their contracts, but are likely more valuable kept than traded, given all the questions that still surround them leaguewide.

2025-2026

Lafrenière - Stützle (C) - Perreault
Zegras - Norris - Batherson (A)
Greig - Pinto - Perron
Gregor - Ostapchuk - Gaudette
Reinhardt/MacEwan

Sanderson (A) - Schneider
Chabot - Jensen
Kleven - Yakemchuk
Sebrango/JBD

Ullmark
Sogaard/Merilainen/Garand

Caleb Jones is on waivers - he's not a world beater, but is a defenceman with NHL experience who can move his feet a bit. He would give us some depth and some options, which we don't really have right now. And he is on a minimum salary one year deal, so it's not a cap problem to pick him up...

He's a chud, so I'd ideally like to avoid him.

With the Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson line humming, it's clear Stutzle needs quality linemates who can produce.

JJ Peterka is a 25g, 50p RFA. The two Germans and a re-signed Gaudette could make up the other half of the top 6 next year.

There are rumblings about him needing to play a harder game over on their board. Buffalo also should have no ties to any single player at this point with their ongoing drought. I wonder what the cost would be to pry him away.

Im still fuming Dorion didnt draft JJ in the draft. We had two shots at it too...

Just looking through the AHL stats leaders; Sens need help in the top 6
Maybe the Sens can acquire someone like Frank Nazar from Chicago without costing them too much.
He has good speed and good offensive tools . Not sure what the cost would be and not sure if he could help sooner than later
I would still not be against acquiring some skill in the system

Ethan Bear is an RD playing for Hershey (Caps) .. If I'm Staios I would be looking at options on RD that won't break the bank to acquire and fit in under the cap. Bear has had some success in the NHL Canucks 2022-23 Report Cards: Ethan Bear - The Hockey Writers Vancouver Canucks Latest News, Analysis & More

Sens should be looking at prospect trades to upgrade their pool with some potential to fill needs. A marginal upgrade if it doesn't cost much is better than no upgrade ... JBD and Hamonic on the right side.. while trying to become a playoff team

First thing you have to do to fix a problem is recognize you have one... Not sure what its going to take to recognize it here

While you are at it change the team's name to the Ottawa Creampuffs because that roster is soft as crap.

Would you care if they changed the name to CreamPuffs but managed to win games and make the playoffs?

Wanting guys that play 'hard', what does that even mean at this point? I want a roster with guys who can score, will commit to playing D in their own zone, and can handle pressure.

Puckpedia is listing Zub as being expected to return 21 Dec, that's 5 more games without him.

If we were going to back fill, I think we would have done it already, he's already missed 7 games.

I'm also not convinced Bear would be a good target, but we could do worse I suppose... I just don't see Green scratching Hamonic for him.

He likely doesn't think he's a problem. Green seems ok with him and Staios has some affinity so here we are. 5 games could stretch to 6 or 7 still
Inaction is the recipe I guess

We would not really know until we saw him in action there.
