Doesn’t really matter. The money alone puts the rangers in a spot of weakness. This is nothing more than a smaller team helping out a bigger team for a favor down the road
Maybe, but I think Verbeek realizes that rebuilding teams can’t just completely suck for years. They’re not a playoff team, but adding Trouba to help insulate some of their young D helps them. It makes sense for them beyond just being a “favor”.
After next year, they can re-sign Trouba at a lesser rate or flip him at the deadline with retention.
Per reports, multiple teams were interested and ready to trade for him. Trouba picked the Ducks.
