Proposal: Free agency edition Trade Rumours/Proposals [MOD - Stay on Topic] 5

NYRs prospect Perrault is one of the highest IQ prospects i've watched.

basically could be another Stone

Laf + Perrault could be getting back two 1st liners.

Brady, JBD, Boucher, 2032 3rd for Lafreniere, Schneider or Miller, a protected 2025 1st Round Pick, and some random conditional picks that make the package look way bigger than it is.
A conditional 1st if Brady is subsequently traded within the conference,
A conditional 1st if the Rangers win the SC in 2023
A conditional 1st if the Moon is hit by Oumuamua on Dec 23 2025.

The Ducks took Trouba as revenge for the Dadonov fiasco. Now that the Rangers have cap space, Brady's camp can pressure Staios to pull the trigger on the trade. The Ducks knew this. It wouldn't surprise me if Bettman was somehow involved!

A conditional 2029 4th Round pick if Brady appears on the cover of any subsequent release of the EA NHL video game series between 2026-2029. It becomes a 2030 5th Round pick if he appears in conjunction with his brother and not by himself.

There is no positive return where we move on from Brady, but getting Laf back let alone Laf and other assets would at least mean we get another star and aren't backdooring into another situation where we trade Mark Stone and have nothing a few years later.
Brady is signed and I believe does not have trade protection until July 1st.

If we trade him before July 1st, it needs to be a homerun. Doesn't have to be "Karlsson trade good" but it can't be for only two much worse players in Laf and Kakko.

Karlsson trade wasn't universally seen as good when it was made. That SJ 1st was expected to be in the 20-31 range, not Stutzle. Norris wasn't a sure thing by any stretch, DeMelo wasn't qualified.

I'd argue Laf and Kakko could be seen as substantially better value in the moment, especially if you're adding a 1st.

Lafreniere scares me.

His career high is 57 points and he's currently on pace for 58 points.

Seems alright until you consider he's been stapled to Panarin's side the last two seasons.

50-60 points playing with an 100P+ superstar winger isn't actually very impressive.

I'd definitely want a significant plus attached if we were trading Tkachuk to the Rangers.

Right now Brady is the better than Laf, but with some PP time Laf would probably have better production. I think Laf as the centrepiece in a Tkachuk trade is valid, but we need more than Kakko. There needs to be an unprotected first at the minimum or a blue chip prospect like Otthman or Perreault

Brady for Laf + Kakko + 1st would definitely be satisfactory to me.

Yeah the return on Karlsson looked very underwhelming at first but it turned into a really amazing trade for us pretty quickly.

He's scoring primarily at ES. He barely gets any PP time in NYR.

Not saying he puts up the same numbers as Brady, but he can produce on ES and is 23, plenty of room to grow
