Speculation: Roster Building Thread : Part XVI (Playoffs or Retool?)

I heard Brian Boyle discussing the Bruins on the NY Post pod. Boyle lives in Massachusetts. Things are not good. Boston beat Colorado and then lost to Buffalo 7-2. Winnipeg beat them 6-2 last night. Boston was 2-0 and then tied up the game. They collapsed in the 3rd.
Yeah. They’re older and possess even less draft capital then us. It’ll be interesting which of us can righten the ship most effectively during the next couple years.

tempting!
Oh no you don’t. You need to stay and suffer like the rest of us. LOL

Looks like Blake’s still living in CT. My electrician buddy is working at his house. He worked at FoxiesExpensiveCTDiggs a few years ago too.

Trade him tomorrow. Enough with the whiners.
Is it a generation thing? In the NBA I hear coaches and former players saying NBA coaches are no longer in charge. That its the star players using their "voice" in charge now. I can see that since NBA players are making insane money.

This should be fun .....Fox for Pettersson . Rangers finally land the big C they lacked for a LONG time....not an easy thing to find . Then They run with Schneider-Borgen-Mancini on the right side and have Miller /Vak and have to sign another Dman in UFA that can carry the puck and QB a PP . Then they also purge Panarin -Mika and Kreider . Bring in Othmann and Perreault .and Berard . What other talented Dmen will be available in the next two seasons to replace Fox . Are there any ? Have fun with it .

That would certainly change the roster around LOL......This was suggested to me by a Leaf fan today . At first I thiought CRAZY...then I started to rethink it and I was aware how hard it is to find a #1 C and then I see the cap increases and figure we can find that Dman somewhere in the next two years in all likelihood .......
No b'c Elias Pett is
1) butterball soft, minimal def checking
2) still not recovered from knee issue

way too much risk

No. Petterson is damaged goods since the knee injury. His skating has declined dramatically. Look at his production before signing the big contract. Not interested in paying for his past performance especially at the cost of Fox.
Although you did not respond to me, I said I would acknowledge if you substantiated your posts.
Congrats
Now keep it up

They aren’t trading Fox.

Stop it guys
Whether or not they will and
Whether or not they should are 2 dif things,
BUT
neither silences the other -- or us

I gotta give bern credit man. He’s been here doing his thing for a decade+ and everyone consistently degrades and disregards him but he just keeps plugging along. That’s dedication to the craft. No outside motivation or fanfair, just pure grind it out do it attitude. Maybe we should make him our next coach, some of our players could learn a lot from his mindset.
Thanks
I am happy to debate those w/dif of opinion, that = competition of ideas which benefits all of us
I only ask peeps recognize opinions are fine, but substantiated ones have more weight, and to extent accurate, need to be valued more heavily

I do not always get it right but I usually substantiate what I say and I will rely on my track record for ultimately having been right more often than not

I still don’t understand all this break him talk from you. The NHL isn’t the Hyborian Age, Chris Drury isn’t Thulsa Doom, and Mika Zibanejad isn’t going to contemplate his bad play on the tree of woe.

It’s pie in the sky nonsense.
I explain it again
It is not nonsense
Either zib controls things or we do
We have the nuclear option of benching him indefinitely

We should do that if he gives us no other choice

He may or may not be motivated as a matter of pride to waive in order to play again

BUT he will almost CERTAINLY waive, I believe when his little girl asks: "Daddy, why aren't you playing tonight?"

That is hardball but again, he has given us no other choice

ok, that's the hill you guys want to die on, fine
love is given, respect is earned
you want to substantiate something, it will be addressed in kind accordingly
in the meantime and for the duration
your constant ha ha without constructive comment/substantiation
will continue to be called out regularly
but to spare us all
I will limit it to once a month
next time being Feb

that's not have a good time
THIS is..

your attempt to be funny = epic fail
you still substantiate nothing

poster has a right to be stressed over this suck ass club
and your attempt to use humor to ridicule me is not effective
EVERYONE SEES YOU CONTRIBUTE NOTHING

Sorry if my bad this has not been emphasized, but imo eat full half max retain and possibly pay a 3rd team 5 5ths or something like that to eat another 2-ish mil per

so yeah, it ain't easy/pretty
but it can be done after he first breaks

This is side-splitting stuff. The medicine is flowing now....

Dont worry Bern....I like the very low rent in there....

I know you guys will appreciate this, quick story.

My cousin went to Casino Night yesterday, and I got a FaceTime call from him. All of a sudden Sam Rosen was on the FaceTime call talking to me lmao. Life highlight right there, Sam is in a class of his own.

My cousin said Quick was exceptionally nice. Said Laf was kind of acting too cool for school but I get it.

He went up to Edstrom and said that he’s the only guy on the team that could skate and when he was talking to Fox my cousin said we needed to get someone who could play with him lmfao. Said Fox smiled and just nodded.

And lastly, i asked if he went up to Mika. He said no, didn’t want to take a picture with that bum.

Anyway just wanted to share figured you guys would appreciate

Now if all the Ranger fans who have his jersey would just make one big pile just outside msg to have a wonderful bonfire 🔥

Ratelle. Your bringing up bad memories :DD
Yeah it was sad....but neither club won a Cup with him in his best seasons . Same as Park....and likely will be the same result keeping Fox here .

We will have a slow footed / non physical [ but smart !!! ] little Dman beat up every playoff as teams get bigger/faster target him over and over .as he gets older and slower . Wait and see I guess....

shoe on the other foot, do you do that?

Shesty, Tro, Othmann, Vaak, Jones + 2026 1st
for
Byfield, Helenius, Gavrikov, Clarke and Dvorak

break that into as many smaller deals as you like

LA gets Vez level elite G solution long term
their pivot depth is ridiculous and while they would have to start on a Kopitar replacement, they can actually get by short term + Tro and his FO winning = a great #2
Othmann = good W prospect close enuf to ready
Vaak + Jones = stopgaps

Rs get By-guy for pivot
also Helenius 4th line pivot move Carrick up
Gav = 1LD pair w/Fox until I move Fox for a package including Kleven
Clarke = RD stud
Dvorak = 1st round LD pick, good prospect

our G = quick + Garand reinforced by Dominque
D = Gav - Fox, KAM - Schneider, Borgen - Clarke
Dvorak marinating

deal Smith, Vesey, Lindgren asap
dump mika first chance
bread see if I can get a good sell high on him half retained, keep til then

Kreider [eventually healed, stopgap Groulx] - Byfield - Carrick
LaF - Chytil - bread
Edstrom - Helenius - Rempe
Kaliyev- Brodz - Berard
I’ve stated this to you many other occasions, but here it is from Mayors Manor, which is John Hoven’s site. He is a Kings insider:

“Nothing has really changed in the big picture. Players like Clarke, Quinton Byfield, Alex Laferriere, and their trio of goaltending prospects are viewed as LA’s future foundation. Even while continuing to evaluate their current roster options for 2024-25, none of those players currently under contract are considered ‘on the table’ in any potential deals.”

I found the Yardbarker article you referenced, you may want to drill down and find who started that “rumor”.
