Puckpedia is listing Zub as being expected to return 21 Dec, that's 5 more games without him.

If we were going to back fill, I think we would have done it already, he's already missed 7 games.

I'm also not convinced Bear would be a good target, but we could do worse I suppose... I just don't see Green scratching Hamonic for him.
It’s hard to know if Green likes Hamonic or just thinks JBD is a worse option.

Hamonic typically has been playing less than even Kleven. It’s just that JBD is the one guy he plays less than him, and also the only other option we have on the top pair if you keep Jensen with Chabot.

Bear at least has more NHL experience than JBD so maybe it tips the scales to him.

1. Michael Amadio (2.6M x 3) + Travis Hamonic (1.1M x 1) + 2025 2nd round pick to ANA for Trevor Zegras (5.75M x 2)

- Zegras is disgruntled in Anaheim and there are question marks about his character. However, he's young and has elite level skills, which the Sens sorely need to complement Stützle. He could pan out to be Kyle Turris or Nikita Filatov. Anaheim receives two locker room/character guys, which their GM loves, and a 2nd round pick this year for their trouble.

2. Claude Giroux @50% (3.25M x 1) + Nick Cousins (800K x 1) to COL for 2025 2nd round pick (NYR) + 2026 1st round pick

- In the absence of Landeskog and Colton, Colorado adds a skilled veteran top 6 forward and a bottom 6 cup winner. In return, Ottawa receives a 2nd round pick this year and what's likely to be a late 1st round pick next year.

3. Brady Tkachuk (8.2M x 4) + Artem Zub (4.6M x 3) to NYR for Alexis Lafreniere (2.325M x 1 > 7.45M x 7 ext.) + Braden Schneider (2.2M x 2) + Gabe Perreault (unsigned) + Dylan Garand (825K x 1) + 2026 1st round pick

- The Tkachuk era in Ottawa is over and there's no need to wait until he has control over the trade to pull the trigger. It's Stützle's team. Tkachuk never was and will never be a franchise altering talent on his own. However, he's arguably the single best complementary piece in the league. Trading him at peak value would go a long way towards filling most of roster holes.

NYR acquires the best power forward in the league. In return, the Sens receive two high end pieces that have yet to assert themselves in the NHL in Laf and Schneider. They also acquire an "A" prospect in Perreault, one of the smartest/most cerebral players outside of the NHL, with an average shot, but amazing hands and passing. Meanwhile, Zub, a legitimate, physical top 4 defenseman (when he's healthy) is swapped for Garand, a promising G prospect and a mid to late 1st next year.

***Chabot and Norris are both playing up to their contracts, but are likely more valuable kept than traded, given all the questions that still surround them leaguewide.

2025-2026

Lafrenière - Stützle (C) - Perreault
Zegras - Norris - Batherson (A)
Greig - Pinto - Perron
Gregor - Ostapchuk - Gaudette
Reinhardt/MacEwan

Sanderson (A) - Schneider
Chabot - Jensen
Kleven - Yakemchuk
Sebrango/JBD

Ullmark
Sogaard/Merilainen/Garand
EA sports much?

Would you care if they changed the name to CreamPuffs but managed to win games and make the playoffs?

Wanting guys that play 'hard', what does that even mean at this point? I want a roster with guys who can score, will commit to playing D in their own zone, and can handle pressure.
Not going to win too many games when you get pushed around in front of the net and lose 50/50 board battles. That happens far too frequently now with a bunch of these guys.

He likely doesn't think he's a problem. Green seems ok with him and Staios has some affinity so here we are. 5 games could stretch to 6 or 7 still
Inaction is the recipe I guess

We would not really know until we saw him in action there.
Ideal world we could trade JBD for an upgrade (assuming Green isn't a fan).

Maybe someone like Savard from Mtl, Murphy from Chi, Carrier out of Nsh, Gudas out of Anaheim, Maybe Rutta or Liljerien out of SJ,

We need to make the cap work too.. assuming we will get Zub and Perron back

Waive Forsberg and replace him with Merilainen. If he is unclaimed (likely), we still get some cap relief.

They should only waive him if they are fine with him getting claimed.

He might not get claimed, but that is far from guaranteed. He is still a proven NHL backup on an expiring contract, those are in short supply. If this was during training camp. he almost certainly slips through.

Hamonic has NMC and has a child receiving treatment in Toronto so he's not going anywhere.

I agree, it would be JBD. Is Bear that much better than him?

Forsberg was really solid before his 2022/23 season ended with torn MCLs in both knees.

Probably not a coincidence he's been utter shit since that happened.
Utter shit? Last night was his first bad game since the start of the season. He's been better than Ullmark up until this past week lol. Short memory? One bad game doesn't make him an utter shit goalie all of a sudden.

I don't care if he had a nice stretch of games where he outplayed Ullmark, he's been worse overall this year and was terrible last season.

.889 SV% this season and .890 SV% last season. Him being shit isn't an "all of a sudden" development.

We need to spend on some offensive talent as well. Giroux will be in a pay cut. Maybe we move Perron and amadio in the offseason to open up space. Ostapchuk and Reinhardt can play

Exactly. Historically bad goalie didnt just all of a sudden play poorly. Forsberg has been bad this year. Two shutouts don’t cancel that out. Every other game I believe is below .890 lol. He’s had a horrible start to this season

This is just *hypothetical*

Would you guys do: Lekkerimaki, Silovs, D-Petey or Kudryavtsev, 2025 1st, 2026 1st, Hoglander, Desharnais for Tkachuk + JBD or Kleven?

Lekkerimaki is scoring a crazy amont in the AHL as a rookie and is a A prospect. Silovs is a good goaltending prospect, and D-Petey/Kudryavtsev are really good defensive prospects likely battling for a spot with us near future.

Sens could certainly do worse than Lekkerimaki, two 1sts + additional secondary assets.

But where are the Canucks getting the cap space to add Tkachuk?

Not even close for me.

No this is a lot of question marks for Brady.
