Mentioned this on the main board. But Wood is the type of player the Sens like. Wouldn't be surprised if they checked in on him

Ive got no doubt they will get a 1st. But I think the plus will be underwhelming.

1st+Zadina + roster player kinda package

At this point, if we get a first in the 12-17 range, I'll be ok. I'd rather a 2nd or 3rd over Zadina or any marginal prospects.

Cap space is an asset. Debrincat trade is a write off, but I would be excited to see what they would do with 8M in extra cap space. Maybe get Bunting at 4.5-6 to fill the whole and then upgrade goaltending.

Who is going to take on DBC without sending money back?

A 2024 first. This draft sucks and our scouts agree!
I've been thinking a bit about this, and I'm wondering if maybe Dorion senses that the scouting staff is unprepared for this draft. They've known for months that in all likelihood they won't be picking in the top-100, and I think in that situation it's easy to let your foot off the gas. It's human nature.

I know teams love to say they prepare the same way whether they have 2 picks or 12 picks but really that's just bullshit. How invested can you really get in making a 70-80 player draft list when you know you probably won't have the opportunity to even get a single one of them?

You push the pick out a year and maybe you have a better chance at success. Other teams are also probably more willing to move a pick a year out in what is generally considered a weaker draft year so maybe it can make sense for both sides.

Or he doesn't trust his scouting department because there is a fractured relationship with his assistant GM who runs the amateur side of scouting.

Trotz said something interesting addressing the media the other day about how his responsibilities as a GM is “finding roster spots for prospects.” I found that interesting because I believe he had mentioned Saros earlier as a game breaker that you build around (and did not include Duchene), so I don’t think they’re trading Saros but I could see Lanikeinen being moved as Askarov is ready for the NHL in some capacity.

I could see two trade possibilities with Nashville. DeBrincat for Duchene (2 million retained) and Lanikeinen or…

A 3 way trade with San Jose, where Nashville gets Cat and Ostapchuk (or something), San Jose gets 17 oa, OTT 1st ‘24, OTT 2nd 25 (becomes a 1st if a cup finals appearance is made) and Ottawa gets Karlsson (2 million retained by San Jose and 2 million retained by Nashville) and Lanikeinen.

If Boston can't manage to fit Bertuzzi, then I hope we do something around a signed DBC for an extended Swayman and Debrusk, 5 years each at 4.5m and 6.5m respectively. They wont be able to resign Swayman, Bertuzzi, Bergeron, Krejci and couple more depth forwards to fill out the roster with 11m in cap space. We should take advantage of that, they just shipped out Hall for free to make cap room, but thats still not enough, wouldn't be surprised if they let go of more valuable assets on the cheap.

We should have taken Hall for free.

Wait Dorion actually said this year's first round in the draft is not very good and not having a first rounder is good timing?!

The man is so damn insecure... How can you be that smug, that insecure and that dumb all at once?!?!
Dorion absolutely insists on making a fool out of himself publicly. Its obnoxious for him to think anyone is stupid enough to buy that BS. And some people on here legitimately argue that he will def get another shot as gm somewhere else once he's let go. Just lol.

Duchene actually makes sense. NTC doesn't kick in for a few more days. Can slot in LW or move to C if Norris blows his shoulder. If healthy you got Norris between two play makers in Bath and Duchene. Caphit is kinda high but it is only 3 more years.

Meh, we don't need expensive duchene, we need someone exactly like tatar, then we need another for the third line.
