Trotz said something interesting addressing the media the other day about how his responsibilities as a GM is “finding roster spots for prospects.” I found that interesting because I believe he had mentioned Saros earlier as a game breaker that you build around (and did not include Duchene), so I don’t think they’re trading Saros but I could see Lanikeinen being moved as Askarov is ready for the NHL in some capacity.

I could see two trade possibilities with Nashville. DeBrincat for Duchene (2 million retained) and Lanikeinen or…

A 3 way trade with San Jose, where Nashville gets Cat and Ostapchuk (or something), San Jose gets 17 oa, OTT 1st ‘24, OTT 2nd 25 (becomes a 1st if a cup finals appearance is made) and Ottawa gets Karlsson (2 million retained by San Jose and 2 million retained by Nashville) and Lanikeinen.
Ottawa doesn't even have that first to trade, it's with Arizona now

Someone like Zadorov is who we should be targeting if we actually want to add size and toughness.

He actually throws big hits and is intimidating, not someone like Hamonic who is fake tough and actually very easy to play against.

Dreger last night said Detroit is “less than luke warm about Debrincat”. If that’s accurate, don’t think there will be a bidding push by them.

Also said that Dallas isn’t happening, unless his sources in Dallas are incorrect. They don’t have the cap space, and the Stars don’t value Debrincat (paraphrasing). At the 34:50 mark.

Ottawa have Arizona it’s 2023 1st, they still have next years.

Play it cool, Dorion. Don’t give in the Stevie’s posturing.

Sens trade debrincat a 1st another 2nd that could be a first and the only good prospect for a 33 year old Karlsson. They literally couldn't give him away last year. Stutzle and Sanderson are 21 years old. This will completely fail the rebuild and it would be for absolutely nothing. You can't go 4 /5 years without a first rounder in the middle of a rebuild. There are so many goalies out there right now that can be had for free the market is complete saturated.

The craziest part about all of this is it doesn't address a single team need or weakness they have their top 4 d. The sens have no forward depth.

No one has cap space. Debrincat alone has more value than Karlsson considering his age and contract. Sens basically adding 3 first rounders potentially. What is going in here.

That's the most absurd trade proposal I have ever seen.

While Zadorov would be a good target he is a lefty. The last part really hurts your credibility. Calling Hamonic easy to play against and fake tough but you love the softest players in hockey is something to behold.

Meh, we don't need expensive duchene, we need someone exactly like tatar, then we need another for the third line.
This team really needs players that are hard to play against they don't need Tatar types either. What was posted was a classic internet fan. 'I don't know why he doesn't score more in the playoffs'. Because he is small and slow that's why. Built for the regular season. Sometimes you need to watch the players in actual games. Ottawa has skill. They need fast physical players that can contribute offensively.

Meh, in 2 seasons the cap could be 94 million.
Or they could sign one of the 8 ufa goalies for free for 2 years instead of trading every single asset they have. Which is next to nothing.

Didn't even notice tatar was small. Yeah, we need a bigger, slightly defensive orientated winger x 2

Still...you don't forget how to play a mean defence in the playoffs and those metrics are very solid. He doesn't need to light it up

Apparently Klim Kostin is on the way out in Edmonton.

Plays heavy, hits and fights, adds some scoring pop on the bottom end of the roster. Nice Watson replacement. Some speculation that he's looking for a 3 year, 4.5M deal.

Not sure what we could offer them, but could be a fit.
How f*** is he asking for that type of money lol.

Karlsson is my favorite Senator ever and as much as a selfish part of me would welcome him back, fact is this team has absolutely no depth and a bad bottom 6. I want this team to win and get back in the playoffs more than I want Karlsson back.

My wish would be to get a Killorn/Bertuzzi that can play pretty much anywhere and a Perry for the bottom 6. I'd be fine with Tatar but got something against him cause he had white skates.

also you guys are crazy if you think Alfredsson is going to come in and not be heavily interested in getting Karlsson from the start.

Alfredsson most of all recognize real.

and Andlauer? what better way to make yourself the fan favourite, create a buzz, sell tickets, and improve the team to make playoffs in your 1st season?
Yeah I hope our PoHo isn’t focused on bringing on buddies of his to play for the team.

I think it's very unlikely..

But to me, Karlsson fits if 1) we are not getting a goalie and 2) we are not gonna going to be able to acquire a top 6 forward once we lose DBC

Stack the defence and replace DBC lost offense in one

I get PD was being diplomatic but ADB and his camp don't want to test FA next summer, they will sign long term to whoever he gets traded to. He just doesn't want to sign in Ottawa, dunno that would have been my messaging the fans.

It's his right so I'm fine with it, just don't know why were doing ADB and his camp a service here.

Hmmm, so there is some credibility to that rumour of zadina plus 17 plus boston 1st.

Bostons first might be interesting too, who knows how hard they'll fall - if they even fall.

He'll only sign with a handful of teams, most of which probably can't even accommodate him cap-wise.

If you plan on easing DBC why not make the trade for Hayes and have him fill a 2nd line spot . Let’s see what the sens do here but the 1st rounders I hope are flipped to get a good top 6 and a goalie

If Thompson is available in Vegas that’s a solid guy to try and get

We should have taken Hall for free.
Or this

I would love to hear what his agent is hearing as they can't be feeling very positively about this process right now. He probably got sold this idea of hand-picking his destination and now he's realizing that's not what's going to happen at all.

He'll get paid, but yeah, slight ego check.
