Not a chance Söderblom clears waivers. Unicorns like him will get plenty of chances.
You expect an NHL GM to stick him on the roster just because he's tall?

His game hasn't improved much in GR. Not a big deal if he does get claimed. The Wings have issues scoring, and Elmer is not the solution. Lombardi, Nate, Buch, Finnie and Becher have a lot more potential.

Waiver claims have to stay on the NHL roster. Waiver claims don't happen as often as you think, here's this year's claims:

But no big loss anyways. Elmer has 5 points in GR, Tuo has 4. The only thing those 2 players have is height.

Waiver claims don't have to stay on the roster. You can send them down immediately if you wish, they just have to be put back on waivers to do so.

Yeah, at which point the original team gets to reclaim the player. If a team wants to keep a waiver claim, the player has to stay on the roster. It's rare to see a player get yoyo-ed by 2 teams like Lavoie this season. Most GMs don't usually play stupid games like that.

Yes, the size is a major factor. I think he's a significantly better player than Adam Edström who has been a regular for the Rangers this season, much because of his size.
I also think you're underselling Elmer. With a normal shooting% he'd have 4-5 goals by now which would be solid production, to go along with improvements in other areas.
