He was in the doghouse the last part of the season...Why is Vegas so keen to give him up again?
If Corey Perry is bought out by Anaheim, would he be of interest if he signed for relatively cheap?
Sure, why not?If Corey Perry is bought out by Anaheim, would he be of interest if he signed for relatively cheap?
Leafs and Columbus blockbuster
Nylander + Kadri + Borgman + 4th (2019) + 7th (2020)
for
Savard, Jenner, and Josh Anderson.
Why each team does this.
Columbus: They have a young top-4 D core all 25 or younger (Jones, Werenski, Murray, Nuutivaara), so Savard is somewhat expendible as he wouldn't match the time frame of their rebuild. They upgrade to a true #2C in Kadri to give protection/mentoring to Dubois, and slot ahead of Wenneberg, and they get a 2 years younger, more talented RW/C to replace the outgoing Anderson - plus 2 draft picks to replenish the ones traded away and a bottom pairing capable D-man with size and skill.
Leafs: Acquire a top-4 RD who is mobile, blocks shots, hits, and plays the PK. Get a younger true #3C with size who can PK and play the shutdown role, and a big RW with nasty in him who potted 27 goals. All of these players offer a more physical brand of hockey, and the Leafs address a lot of the size concerns.
Kadri = SavardNylander, Borgman & 4th = Anderson & Savard
Kadri > Jenner
Math is fun, lol makes senseKadri = Savard
Nylander, Borgman, 4th, 7th = Jenner + Anderson
Hahaha.....yup. Can fix almost anything. I was willing to give up more as well. I think the Leafs and Columbus make excellent trading partners now that Columbus is strapped for youth and draft picks. The Leafs definitely can help them out....for a price.Math is fun, lol makes sense
I think that's false. Rosen, Aaltonen, Borgman and so on were all good players coming from Europe who went to the AHL. Neither player has shown so much offensively where they should be guaranteed anything. The Leafs can probably do better in the short term and allow them to polish their offensive instincts at a weaker level.I am hoping that Korshkov is open to sticking around in the AHL, we cna give him a lot of ice time so he can develop. He wasn't getting as much as he should in the KHL.
It was rumoured at the deadline that a Brown + Zaitsev++ trade for Larsson and Kassian fell through. I got the idea from the insiders. Most of them speculate that Brown goes to Edmonton. They wouldn't. Such a dumb trade.

Works for me too. The only issue with that deal is that the Leafs add more cap for next season in that deal. I was trying to figure out a way to get good players back and shed cap. It's pretty tough to do.It should be a trade around Kadri + Johnsson/Kapanen and Savard + Jenner. Maybe Kadri, Johnsson and Borgman for Savard and Jenner.
Including of Kapanen in a deal to get rid of Marleau isnt it.
3rd line is probably terrible. Not really sure I'd be happy penciling Korshkov and Mikheyev in those spots.
Dont know much about Miller other than the fact that he was getting healthy scratched for Vegas. If the Leafs are getting a RHD to play with Rielly, they should probably aim higher.

I mainly do these for ****s and giggles, but here's a lineup.
I think each trade is fairly realistic, with maybe the exception of the SJS deal. We are essentially giving them Kapanen, and taking Dell for them to take Marleau, and giving them Kaskisuo for a 5th.
So whether that is too much but at the very least it's in their favor. With the rumors that NYR and TBL are front runners for Karlsson, it's possible he's not back, so this can be a good use of their extra space, to get an asset like Kapanen, for essentially nothing.
Spooner we can buy out, for 1.3M on the cap for this season and next, or we can just keep/bury him for the season.

Yeah good point, I like it to be honest. Leafs lose a lot of skill in Nylander, but make up for it with guys who can battle, and make a difference in the playoffs.Hahaha.....yup. Forgot to say one of the biggest benefits with that trades - the Leafs shed $1.5 million off the cap, and have 3 players to show for it instead of 2.
Exactly. Puts the Leafs into a position that they could sign Marner, Johnsson, and Kapanen, plus an extra D - especially if they can get Columbus to hold back part of the last year of Anderson's contract. Cap issues gone, defense upgraded, and a more balanced forward lineup. The salary cap savings are a valuable return for Toronto.

Im not opposed to Miller, I just dont know how well he'd do against the QOC he'd be going up against. It would be an upgrade on Hainsey though.Mikheyev is a player.
I can see concerns over Korshkov, but you can easily flip Moore and him, and those concerns are gone frankly.
Colin Miller is a terrific fit. Real good player. Whether it's Muzzin-Rielly/Dermott-Miller or Rielly-Miller/Muzzin-Dermott, it's a pretty good top 4.
