David Fischer, or the guy formerly known by me as having the weakest wrister in the entire history of development camps I've ever had a chance to witness. On top of a few other things...lol.

I remember you were legit amazed by how raw he was for a first rounder. He really was just a gangly teenager with little to no prior training/coaching at all.

He was a do not draft for most teams based on his interviews, he was incredibly raw... I never understood this pick at all.

Yeah, he apparently had no brain to go with his raw physical skills too. And Timmins legit thought Giroux would be available with their 2nd rounder, so he took his combine crush in the 1st. Still pisses me off.

Former Habs prospect Cole Fonstad will attend Columbus' rookie camp. He is on the roster that will take part in the Traverse City Tournament as part of the Jackets' roster (#49)

I think he'll have a great career in the KHL. He does have some skill, kinda like Nigel Dawes and Dustin Boyd.
I think he's going to be terrific in the KHL.

Weal's a good player, just not with the sillset that would allow him to curve himself a role in the NHL.

Ikonen with a 3 pt game to start the season, if he stays healthy and has a good year, he could still be on the Habs radar even though he's a UFA as I'm sure he understands them not signing him since he missed so much time and he's never been known for his hard work. Granted it's very, very early in the season since it's only one game but keep in mind he had just 5 pts all last season (23 games).

Audette with 4 pts in 5 games in the KHL after a big year in Liiga last season.

Danny Kristo is seeing the world through hockey. After leaving the AHL he's been in the KHL, SHL, Swiss league, DEL and now the Czech elite league. Ben Maxwell isn't far behind, after leaving the AHL he went to Finland, KHL, the Swiss league and now the SHL.

after a health scare last year, Emelin still hanging tough in the KHL.

Pleks one of the top scorers so far on his Czech team in just 2 games though.

Ikonen is the one that would burn if he busted out now that he is healthy. Interesting situation to watch this season cause he's 22 and had a pretty nasty injury roller coaster ride. Worse than Juulsen maybe.

I really miss Radulov... Imagine having Radulov instead Gallagher (I like the heart of Gally, but at 6,5 per year for 6 years, i'd prefer put that on player like Radulov).
I'll keep Gallagher.

Daniel Carr having a good start for Lugano with 1 assist in 1 regular season game but also was 3rd in scoring for the Champions HL in Europe for Lugano with 3 goals and 4 assists in 4 games. Though he got hurt and is now out with a rib injury until the end of September.

Nigel Dawes who had one heck of a run in the KHL after leaving the NHL is now playing for Adler Manheim in Germany and he also did well in the Champions for them 2 goals and 6 points in 4 games. Didn't pick up a point in his first regular season game

A bunch of former Habs are having strong starts to their Euro season

Nesterov in 6 games is 1-5-6 in the KHL
Zack Redmond in the DEL had 4 assists in 4 Champions league games and in 2 season games has 3-1-4 totals
Desharnais had 2-2-4 in 4 champions games and has 1-3-4 to start the Swiss league season in 4 games

Draft for need again...recall Habs lacked RDman in their pipeline & decided to do so in a poor overall draft for Dman. That desperation also led to Ribeiro trade for RDman Niinimaa a couple of months later, instead of simply playing Streit w Boullion on a regular shift as opposed to 4th line

Habs used 4-of their 6-picks iirc on Dman - Mathieu Carle, Valentenko, and Cameron Cepek (Ben Maxwell & Ryan White were the two forwards).

Too bad they didn’t draft Petry instead of Fischer

It was a #20 pick, at that stage you can probably draft for needs as it's pretty much a crapshoot at that point.

Claude Giroux being drafted just two positions later stings though...

Boston had a hell of a draft that year... Kessel, Marchand and Lucic...

Having management say that they were 50/50 Fischer vs Giroux stings. Exactly the situation where you go with the local boy and why were they 50/50 between a guy who could play and a guy who could not play? Maybe they should stop drafting big RHDs, they are what, 0/10?

Pretty sure it was Ribeiro's off ice shenanigans that prompted trade, not their need for a DMan.
