Hampus Lindholm with a assist on that goal results in him tying his single season career high in points.

Sick play, miss him and would trade ANY two healthy defensemen we have for him in a heartbeat.

Other than his +/- you have to squint pretty hard to see the difference between this season and last season for him.

Florida's strong forward group helps to mask their blue line, especially Mahura. As an offensive d-man, it appears he's able to keep the puck in the offensive zone more in the few clips I've seen him. It's a better environment for him there than here; Anaheim was built from the net out and Mahura struggled being the focal point, especially during the pre-season games.

Completely agree lol. We have one, MAYBE two top 4 defenseman, and the rest are replacement level.
It's just sad, there was a point when we had like 8 defensemen I didn't want to lose.

Can't say I buy the team who's competing for the playoffs as being nearly as far from cup contention as a bottom 3 team.
Strength of both division and conference play a huge role to being on a playoff contention line (i.e. wild card).

I would say that building a contender from a wild card team is much harder than transition bottom 3 to wild card team.

I'll give you the first. That's fair. I'd argue we've already been the bottom 3 team so we'd be in better shape in moving forward than say a Nashville type bubble team.

If you're usually not facing easy minutes, you pace for 50 pts and for a +50 rating how was there ever a discussion if he is a #1 defender or not? Sure he is not Erik Karlsson or Scotty Nieds but what Hampus brings to the table is - at least for me - superstar material. With guys like him you usually win championships. And the play above shows, he can be a little bit flashy in the right environment as well. I miss him and Raks so much. Funnily Josh not as much.

I still feel like Hakanpää wanted to test the free agency and didn't want to commit to this team and that's why he was traded. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to me.

I dunno. We traded Hakanpaa and a 2022 6th round pick to acquire Haydn Fleury. Hakanpaa was a 28-year old D who was going to be a UFA. Fleury was a 24-year old D, under contract for another season and still be an RFA. This feels like Murray flipping players to incrementally get better while paying it forward at the same time. Who knew that Fleury's game would blossom under Eakins' system?! Fleury's game was so good that the Kraken snatched him up in the expansion draft. The odd part is Fleury hasn't looked as dynamic in Sea or TB as he did with the Ducks.

It's funny how d-men Gudbranson, Hakanpaa, Shatty, and Fleury all played well under Eakins, but this year's crop of talent are so underwhelming.

Never came close to pacing for 50 points as a Ducks in 8 years here. And he isn't even the #1 on Boston. He's a damn good player, but he's slotted absolutely perfectly on arguably the best team in the league.

I mean...I think that was a good move to trade him for Fleury at the time. We should have tried harder to sign him in the offseason, but I don't disagree with BM's decision at the time.

He was 28 who suddenly had an NHL-level season after a few years toiling in the minors. Only having to throw in pretty late pick for a chance at a 24-year old guy who might have had some ceiling left? Why the hell not, I make that trade all the time.

Everything about our D after that has been handled terribly, but I don't have a problem with taking a good deal when it was available.

While I understand missing Lindholm (although he would never have been that player here), I don't understand missing Rakell "so much", he didn't play well at all once not surrounded with exceptional talent.

Also, I can't remember reading on these forums that Lindholm is not top pairing D-man.
