Sprong putting his hand to his ear when he scored against us makes me think he lacks a little self-awareness.

First of all, nobody in Anaheim knows who you are. Second, as someone who’s gotten scratched and passed around his whole career, show some humility
no surprise he wasn't well liked in the ducks locker room

probably the same thing can be said about his time with the caps

I don’t know when they started tracking it as an official stat, but Luke Schenn apparently broke the record for most career hits by a defenseman in NHL history. Good for him

They only started tracking it in the 07-08 season and his rookie season was the 08-09 season, so he kind of unintentionally lined up his career perfectly to set such a record, still impressive though that's a lot of hitting

edit: they actually started tracking hits in the 05-06 season still though not off by too much

didn't clutterbuck just break the record a few weeks ago?

hits are such a weird stat because it really just depends on whoever is tracking them at each arena

Doesn't change my mind about Steel.

Sam Steel has half as many points as rookie McTavish this year in about the same amount of games. Sam Steel also has better linemates such as Kaprisov.

Steel is a 2016 draft pick the while McTavish is a 2021 draft pick.

Steel looked horribly vanilla last week. Zuccarello and Kaprizov were doing all the heavy-lifting and hard stuff. Sam was just skating around with his stick on the ice. of course he'll accumulate a smattering of points.

nothing about steel stood out to me in the last meeting against minny

if his point totals are higher, it's because he's playing with stars like zuccarello and kapriziov as opposed to whatever AHL scrubs he was playing with here

Seems like a combination of factors. Steel undoubtedly is asserting himself more and has figured out ways to make his game come together. But it's also definitely some credit to how damn good Kaprizov really is. He's clearly on that level where he elevates whoever he plays with. Not to completely dismiss Zuc, who is a great little player in his own right, but it seems like everyone who plays with Kaprizov, ends up finding a new level to their game.
