Fins lose 1st-rounder for Brady, Payton tampering
The NFL has stripped the Miami Dolphins of two draft picks, including their 2023 first-round selection, and suspended owner Stephen Ross and fined him $1.5 million as a result of its investigation of allegations levied by former coach Brian Flores.www.espn.com
This owner is such an embarrassment
As a jet fan the scary part was that Brady was actually considering it.As a Dolphins fan really upset with this. Not a fan of ownership, I mean same can be said how I feel about Dolan. But this just really annoys me. Miami has two really legit WR but Tua may not be the answer. So takes away their chance to draft someone else if Tua is not working out. But at least they still have the 49ers 1st round pick.
Tampering happens all the time but Miami got caught more than once. Stupid by the ownership. If it happened just once , would maybe have just gotten a warning.
The perfect QB is Mike Glennon's neck and Peyton Manning's forehead.Mike Glennon's neck is not amused.
Sounds like NFL evolution. That player wouldn’t even need to wear a helmet. The perfect QB is Mike Glennon's neck and Peyton Manning's forehead.
I feel awful for Becton
I think Douglas had every intention of adding depth, but waited too long try to get a guy on a great deal. Well, he overplayed and his leverage just went out the window.Douglas not getting any depth, and just relying on Becton to be healthy was not good. Need to go get someone, Wilson won’t last the season with Edoga or McDermott.
It seems like this is actually a known issue for the surgery he had last year. The jets and becton decided not to have this second surgery. While he initially came in overweight, he was in camp in shape.I feel awful for him. He seems like a good young man and this is his career.
I’m also angry with him for not being in proper shape. Maybe that made the difference here, maybe not, but I doubt he’d consistently have issues if he was. The Jets invested a lot in him and gave him his contract.

I don’t really buy that he was way overweight at mandatory OTA’s but was somehow in shape a month later. You can do a crash diet and drop 20-30 pounds quick when your that big, but his conditioning wouldn’t be up to par. His first day in practice he was laboring heavily. I believe he resides in Texas. This is a man who should be somewhat used to the heat.It seems like this is actually a known issue for the surgery he had last year. The jets and becton decided not to have this second surgery. I think them declaring him out for the season now is the right move. No expectations, just get 100% ready for next season.
I think some of this was a lingering from last season as they didnt take the time to make sure he was 100% and his own workouts when he was off his feet.
If my memory is correct a fractured knee cap is often worse than other more well known knee injuries.I don’t really buy that he was way overweight at mandatory OTA’s but was somehow in shape a month later. What do you mean they didn’t take time to make sure he was 100%? It took him 10 months to recover from an MCL which is typically a 6-8 week injury. Sometimes less. It’s obviously fair for it to be longer considering his size which you’d imagine impacts his rehab. He had 10 months and they still limited his reps. He also didn’t show for any of the non-mandatory workouts for them to maybe get a good look and read on him earlier. I know he had a kid on the way but he easily could’ve come for at least some of the workouts. He probably knew he was way out of shape.
Does an MCL lend to a fractured kneecap? I’ve never heard that but I’m not qualified to speak on it one way or the other.
Historically, the Jets ruin everything but the handling of Becton is not their fault. They didn’t have ample depth though and that’s going to be a problem if they can’t fix it in a hurry. They should’ve had another capable starting T on the roster prior to camp knowing Becton was essentially a wildcard.
It can be horrendous. Just look at injuries like Cherneski or Mcilrath. The MCL he had last year is typically not season ending if early in the season. Depending on the severity, a fractured knee cap can be an absolutely brutal injury and I’d imagine it’s even tougher for a man weighing in the high 300’s.If my memory is correct a fractured knee cap is often worse than other more well known knee injuries.
SF could also cut him. I’m not sure what his dead cap number would be. I’m not saying that it’s going to happen, but I do think the possibility exists. Jones isn’t the new regimes guy so they probably don’t have any loyalty towards him. If the reports from camp are true that he’s been outplayed by Tyrod Taylor then I could see them kicking tires on it. Jimmy G isn’t someone that I would imagine anyone sees as “the guy,” but I could see him having an Alex Smith type arc... He’s not winning you a title, but in a weak division with a decent supporting cast he’ll make you competitive. Does he sign a more team friendly deal for the opportunity to start? I don’t see SF carrying him all year as a backup.
As for Barkley being mocked to the NYG at the time I believe it was a series of comments by Gettleman alluding to it. It really made zero sense at the time. He thought he could use bubble gum and scotch tape to cobble together another run or two with Eli whose best days were clearly behind him.

I agree.Jimmy G is a bad move for a bad football team. Jones may not be the answer yet a Jimmy G isn’t the solution either. Not to mention, you have to be in camp now to prepare for the season. Not switching teams imo.
Jets get Brown. Wonder if he shifts to RT or if they move Fant back over. I'd just see if he can transition to RT since it is not as demanding.
Max Mitchell was just drafted in the 4th round, but they are saying he is very raw still and needs time.Yeah he's like 83 years old or something, so while you may hesitate to ask him to switch, like you said it's less demanding. IDK if he has played any RT before. I'm sure he understands what is required of the position, given how long he has been in the game.
Still need someone else because Edoga is a turd and IDK who else is even on the roster that has played in the league.
