Douglas not getting any depth, and just relying on Becton to be healthy was not good. Need to go get someone, Wilson won’t last the season with Edoga or McDermott.

I feel awful for Becton

brutal for the jets and becton. fractured knee cap. out for year.

You're all preachin to da choir.
Putting this in hindsight, stopgap signing ok as stopgap, but we need to find young OL or consider trading from DL depth to get one.

Or anybody else got other suggestions?

Well I think Duane Brown is going to be their main solution. If someone hits the trade market I would think Douglas would kick the tires, but otherwise my guess is they stand pat and then sign some guy during roster cut downs.

Brown is a good signing. Shame about Becton but not entirely surprising. Awful pick in hindsight.
Guy can't stay in shape and thus can't stay on the field.

I won't blame Douglas for the miss, but I do blame him for not having another starting caliber tackle on the roster ahead of time. It probably cost them to desperately overpay for Brown.

Zach Wilson looks done for the year
It looked that way. Best case is probably 6 weeks on a MCL.

This is potentially very disappointing. It's the first time in awhile that I was as pumped for a NYJ season. I wasn't expecting a playoff berth, but I thought they had the potential to keep things interesting for awhile.

fully concur

Jimmy Garoppolo come on down.
Don't say that even to be funny.
If Wilson injury turns out to be serious, I'm ok rolling with 1) White, 2) Stretverder or whatev his name was, the guy who finished up for us and showed some heart.

Early returns this AM are that Wilson has a bone bruise. No ligament damage.

Interesting that the Jets suffered injuries at the two positions where they seemed least interested in establishing real depth--QB and OT. Joe Flacco is barely capable at this point and the OT thing is well-documented. I'm been lukewarm on Douglas, I like his approach in general and understand he can't rebuild the whole team in one year, but some of his refusals to address certain position groups at various times has been odd.

He's been gm of the jets for 3 seasons. The last 2 seasons when he had full control over the off-season had fewer wins combined than the season he took over after mcagnans draft. If the jets suck this year you have to clean house again imo.

Yeah if they don't show any real improvement I think you have to. Douglas has done some good things, but has also whiffed on some notable picks, made some odd roster construction choices (not taking a more proactive approach to help the pass rush/EDGE situation, having a bunch of shit players in the secondary last season, not finding a good backup QB, gambling on Becton, etc...), and frustrated with his--somewhat laudable--adherence to not offering free agents a dollar more than he thinks they're worth. I mean it's not to say he hasn't done anything good, because he has, but all in all it's a really mixed bag. He's one of those guys with "The Plan" who won't deviate from it.
