Mims requested a trade, I would keep him, but I guess they will trade him for a 7th or something next week.

Corey Davis and Moore both missed significant time last season, it’s not hard to see him being an injury away from getting actual snaps.

That draft was an outright disaster.
Mims should get more than a 7th.
He struggled last year but this year he’s in shape and was having a good camp. He’s just a year too late and now blocked by significantly more talented guys.

I'm with you
too effin bad, he wants out
play up some value and then sell high

giving guys away is not how to build a roster/keep depth

I read an article recently about guys who were drafted in the first and second round who had production like Mims their first couple years in the league, and it was like a f***ing wasteland. The odds of him becoming an impact receiver at this point are so low. I think they could maybe get a conditional fourth or a straight fifth, at best.

We'll be lucky to get anything for Mims, honestly. I don't see anybody trading for him, especially now that he's made his demands for wanting out. IMO, he didn't live up to his potential, just let him walk. We've got enough good young WR now that we don't need him.

Yeah, it was mentioned that K'Neal Harry was traded for a seventh. Harry had one additional year of crappy play, and also one less year on his contract, but still. Maybe you get a sixth, or a fifth if someone else was really high on him before?

Mims also has had injury reasons for his poor playbook last year. He had almost no camp. Where he came in this year healthy and knows the playbook. He’s just buried.

I understand he has reasons--but most of those other guys that flopped had reasons, too. I'm not saying Mims can't or won't make it, just that it's unlikely, and equally unlikely that anyone would want to give up much of value for him at this point.

Trade Mims and Mike White to Carolina for whatever, poor Sam looked like he had a brutal injury tonight.

Krav was justified to go where he went, so I supported him.
Mims has no justification.
Howev, letting him go cheap = what he wants, hurts us.
Ef no, bend, buckle and beak.
Ef you and the horse you rode in on w/no grease

Capitulate Mims, capitulate.
Play well and we are happy to sell high on your ass.

I don't think the animosity towards Mims is justified. Guys have very short windows to make their mark. You don't make it your first couple years, you could be done. Your potential career earnings can plummet. Literally everything is at stake for these young guys.

It's clearly not working for him here. I know reports have questioned his ability to grasp the playbook and things like that but I don't remember anyone questioning his work ethic--and to the contrary, it's usually praised. If he's putting in the work but can't figure it out, whatever, that happens. I can't be angry at a guy for that. As long as they put in the work, IMO that's all you can ask for.

And so he asks for a trade because he hears the team say they're not going to release him, but also recognizes he's absolutely buried on the depth chart. I don't think it's unreasonable. He didn't even torch the team on the way out or anything.

The situation is disappointing but I harbor no ill will toward the player. He just wants a chance to make it, a chance he doesn't seem likely to get here.

No he sucks. Another in a long line of 2nd round WR busts for the NYJ. Impressive measurables but that’s it. Mediocre hands, can’t learn the playbook after 3 seasons, always lining up wrong and getting penalties
My Giants have some WR issues as well but Im optimistic for this years team.

Streveler to Mims in the 4th to tie it up. Will either of these guys be on the roster in Week 1?

Mims getting hurt on the last drive of the preseason is very on brand.

Came back at least, that’s good.

Call me crazy, but to me Webb should be the backup.

Also the amount of injures to the Giants is unreal. It seems like every day someone is getting hurt.

so who did Jets cut?
And what do we think?

Nothing crazy, my gripes would be keeping Davis over Pinnock and Parks at safety. Keeping 4 running backs is gross, Ty Johnson stinks, but glad they kept Bam Knight. Glad they kept Gager at TE, he’s a project, but earned the spot.

Nathan Sheppard surviving too on the D line is very blah, he’s never been good.

See what tomorrow brings, they are number 4 on waivers claims so some of these guys could still be gone.

sounds about right although I understand Streveler was also cut
Possible list I saw was not final.
Should have forced White to taxi squad, take it or leave it

Giants picked up Pinnock from the Jets off of waivers (and 2 others as well).

Smith, Williams, Lemieux to IR.
Yeah I don't understand why Pinnock got cut. The jets reclaimed 7 of the players they cut so I wonder if they wanted to sign him to the practice squad but he got a roster spot on the Giants.

Not sure why the jets are keeing 3 QBs on the roster. Streveler is on the practice squad (so 4) but he might be one of the first guys to get signed if there is an injury. They both played against 3rd and 4th stringers but I still liked Streveler better.
