Was going to feel bad for Sam Darnold, but he’s going to make 19 million dollars to be a backup.

He’s on that Chase Daniel career path where he will just be a boring backup for ten more years, disappointing for him, but not a bad life at all.

Good on Joe Douglas getting out on him when he did.
Darnold would've had a chance had he been drafted into an organization that spent time developing him instead of the hapless Jets who threw him directly into the fire with a garbage OL. Wouldn't surprise me if he had a career revival at some point...he's still really young & his physical talent was never an issue.

Yeah his physical talent was always there but the knock on him was the decision making and trying to do too much when nothing is there and unfortunately, he's carried that into the NFL with him.

Man that draft. 3 out of the 4 top QBs that everybody was raving about, missed.

When does training camps open up?

I am fully ready to have the Jets fully disappoint me again after an great offseason. Its been a while since i feel good about them. So lets do this!

Vets for most clubs are the last week of July.

Top picks go to garbage organizations. QB success is heavily dependent on development , coaching, and support. Mayfield actually did have a ton of talent around him which makes him IMO the bigger bust.

The Jets did nothing for him. Not many weapons, not much of an OL, and Gase.

I really thought he’d turn into a Tannehill type in Carolina, but the decision making still isn’t there. Also, I just don’t feel that the ball comes out very well. I think he’ll be a longtime well paid backup QB. Maybe he has an outside chance to establish himself in the future if he winds up in a good situation somewhere.

Darnold is no Geno Smith.

If your just a good guy, show up everyday as a QB, you will last a long time in the league.

Mike Glennon was never good, and played 9 seasons.

Chase Daniel is still making money never playing.

Blaine Gabbert, who was an absolute bust backups Tom Brady in Tampa.

It’s a good life.

Every rookie QB gets thrown right into the fire generally with a garbage OL these days. It's not 2005 anymore. Most of the 1st round QB play immediately and generally it's for bad teams.

They do usually play earlier, but the Rangers cast and coaching was epically poor.

If they get Garoppolo, Jones is out I think. Garoppolo is better than Jones.
I hope you do not believe that tweet. Its not serious. The Giants have no cap room nor do they want to put their future on Jimmy G. It will be either DJ or a future draft pick not Jimmy G.

Giants can figure out the cap. They’ll send a pick to SF and probably some salary... maybe Jones. Giants will then go 8-9 in a weak division. Not good enough for the playoffs or bad enough to secure a high level QB in the draft.

Giants have $5 million is space this season while Jimmy G has a $27 million cap hit. That's a lot to figure out.

That is not happening. No chance. Trading DJ after June 1st would actually cost a 4.2 mill dead cap hit.

You are right and that 5 mill is not a lot to go through the season with. They still need insurance at center and cb.
