We forget the dodgers and Giants because they moved out over 60 years ago. No one cares about them in queens except for the wilpons. Mets and Jets played in the same stadium until the 80s. Islanders have nothing to do with anything.
I would wager that most Mets fans are descendants of Dodger and Giant fans. Mets fans don’t care about them but it factors into why they’re a fan.

He was a top 5 pick before the combine/ pro day.

I saw him as an early teens guy just due to safety value. Some people had him top 5 but I wouldn’t say it was seen as a consensus. The combine did seem to hurt him. Maybe he went a few spots lower than expected but he also went to a great organization who’ve had a history of big time safeties. If there’s a guy I feel for it isn’t Hamilton. He has a chance at a massive 2nd and 3rd contract if he develops properly.

Appears a bunch of teams did not rank him a first round talent. His interviews did not go great.
Having the mentals to be a pro is a big factor to a lot of teams.
This is a pure boom/bust pick.

For the record, I am pleased with Jets' draft.
Just wished somewhere, perhaps later, they added some quality T, but we got huge adds multiple slots, just have to hope we get someone somewhere.

why on earth would the chargers trade the only tackle they've drafted in many years, who had an outstanding rookie year...period, there is not a player on the Jets the chargers would trade slater for. About as untouchable as Herbert.
Let's be honest. All teams need sufficient depth all positions.
Chargers assessed by TV analysts during PO loss to have need for mo D as an Achilles heel.
This could mean depending on price they are interested in adding D
Legit impact player Q Williams IS lower level of high end quality D, at worst.
I agree Slater is worth more because of versatility and imo harder to add OL than DT, DE, LB, S.
But some variation of Williams + for Slater could be a win win.

Note, early picks
- LA added OL. Done to add to OL, but if Slater moved for help elsewhere, this would help minimize sting of it.
- Jets added a DL, also got a top draftee by SF coupla yrs earlier coming to camp; if Q W moved for help elsewhere, this would help minimize sting of that.

yr bold = hyperbole

Same with Sewell in Detroit. These aren't guys who get traded. If the Jets wanted/needed an OT, they should have drafted one at 4...or Penning at 10. You don't get stud OTs on rookie contracts via trade.
Unfortunately, you are right.
I was hoping for an exception to the rule scenario where DET keeps its 2OA and desire to draft a possible stud franchise QB would = considering Sewell as part of a deal if enuf else was on the table.
Howev, to my shock, Lions had many chances to add there and instead went w/bpa or other needs.
This means I got the premise wrong, so no such deal was to be had.

Jets drafted a tackle in the 4th round. I have no idea how good he is but Max Mitchell was mocked anywhere between the 1st and 5th rounds so he must have something going for him.

your mouth to God's ear, and that gives me hope.

there is no ? they helped themselves a LOT w/quality adds, just wondering if we should have also looked at that massive human Falalala or whatev his name is, like 6'9 and 380 but relatively mobile. That's a guy you want for less than a yard 1-2 x critical short yardage per game, and more importantly, he's so big even most powerful DEs can't go thru him, have to try to go around.

That said, I saw the specs on the guy you mentioned. He is sufficiently tall but only 230-ish lbs; howev, he looks all muscle, which is GOOD.

I am very optimistic. I know Fant got a bit better towards season's end, and may improve as a T further; also there is chance he can up his game or give us better performance from G. But until he demonstrates otherwise, I remain skeptical. The rest of it, however, we crushed it.

its not hyperbole, its my strong opinion...you talk alot about salaries in most of your trade proposals, the chargers are not giving up their stud LT on his rookie deal (that has a 5th year team option) for any player on the jets...they addressed defense through a trade for khalil mack, signing JC Jackson and two DT's in the offseason. Im not sure if you consider position importance and salary/age/ELC there is a player in the league they would trade him for, nothing against the Jets you just dont move players like that in todays NFL

Ok, while I consider it hyperbole in a vacuum, I confess I was not aware of the bold which is real world outside the vacuum and that makes a HUGE dif.
My pt about Q Williams having value stands, but obv is not a need for a team that added as you update.
I stand corrected. My expectation that LA would wanna update D was correct, but it was outdated prior to post season developments. Hence, I stand corrected. Suggestion to move QW + for Slater is withdrawn.

Two things that concern me about Jermaine Johnson.

1) He’s a year or more older than most of his competition.

2) His pash rush win rate was severely lacking. He was in about the 60 percentile while Hutchinson, Karlaftis, and Thibadeaux were all 95 percentile and up. Walker on the other hand was way below. It’s an advanced stat but along with age km guessing is why he fell on a lot of boards.

I still like the pick. Just a legit concern.

Can't remember if it got mentioned, but Schoen has done some serious and much-needed cleaning out of the Giants front office. Toxic Chris Petit is gone!!!!

Some folks on twitter don't understand the timing, but most trusted experts were clear - you don't dump your scouting department a month before the draft. And sure enough, the draft ends and Schoen has removed at least 4 major long-time scouts for the team. Chef's kiss.

I asked the AI system DALL E mini to come up with "Eli Manning as a woman."

The results are as horrifying as you'd expect.

IDK, I'm not really sold Mayfield is special in any way. I mean I don't think Jones is either, and if you wanted a competition I guess Baker would be worth an acquisition, but if I was a Giants fan I would not feel like I missed out.

But this is the year Daniel Jones proves he's better than a back up....or so I've been told.
Mara has been preaching total faith in Jones although I personally think it’s a smokescreen to draft a QB next year. Bring in Baker and it’s a competition. Baker brings hoopla. Brings drama. Lots of questions. What happened in Cleveland? What’s happening here? I doubt a new coaching staff wants to do deal with that unless they really feel like their getting they’re guy.

From a GM standpoint Schoen is playing with house money because he didn’t bring Jones. Bring in Baker and he picked a guy. Rightly or wrongly that’s a potential strike against him especially if it brings hoopla with it.

I apologize for the excess use of the word hoopla.

I actually thought Baker was a better fit in Seattle, but they are obviously all in on Bryce Young.

All good points. Too much hoopla. Kidding.

Was going to feel bad for Sam Darnold, but he’s going to make 19 million dollars to be a backup.

He’s on that Chase Daniel career path where he will just be a boring backup for ten more years, disappointing for him, but not a bad life at all.

Good on Joe Douglas getting out on him when he did.
