why on earth would the chargers trade the only tackle they've drafted in many years, who had an outstanding rookie year...period, there is not a player on the Jets the chargers would trade slater for. About as untouchable as Herbert.

Same with Sewell in Detroit. These aren't guys who get traded. If the Jets wanted/needed an OT, they should have drafted one at 4...or Penning at 10. You don't get stud OTs on rookie contracts via trade.

You know what else...I low key pull for the Jets to be successful. I don't have anything against that franchise. Giants/Jets feels like a manufactured "rivalry", if you can even call it that, just because they both represent NY. Maybe there's historical context, but nothing from the last 25 years that I remember.
They dont play in the same division, theres no frequent games against each other and theyve never met in the playoffs.
There are far better NY rivalries.

Great picks from NYG.
Too bad the roster is straight trash still lol.

Maybe I'm just the optimistic type with the Giants, but I don't think the roster is trash. I still believe the offense is a better offensive line away from being decently productive. Kenny Golladay didn't just become a bad football player overnight. Fumbles aside, Daniel Jones didn't just forget entirely how to play QB after the hot and promising start in his rookie year. Saquon Barkley didn't just become a trash RB who couldn't get past the LOS. There's a common weak link there, and Schoen is working hard to improve it. Hopefully Neal pans out, Thomas continues to progress, and the other moves made this offseason significantly bolsters the performance of the OL.

The defense was actually not that bad in my view. Frustrating in final 2 minutes of a half scenario, but you know when they are on the field for 75% of every game because the offense is bad, sounds like the offense's problem more than the defense's problem. About that common weak link again...

May have been posted already, but apparently NYJ landed three of their top 8 players on their board.

Why did Jermaine Johnson drop so far? Per Breer at SI: "I'm told a big piece of his drop was how he came off in predraft meetings with teams- he turned a lot of people off through the process."

Other reasons for his drop could be just 1 year of production possibly scaring off some teams. Greg Cosell is a big fan of Jermaine Johnson. Two other guys he spoke highly of that are still available: Arnold Ebiketie and Logan Hall. Intrigued to see where they land tonight. Excited for R2 and R3.

SEA came away happy with their 9th overall pick. They had Cross ranked ahead of Neal in their OT rankings.

NYG had Ekonwu and Neal fairly close in their rankings. Per Jay Glazer, they were worried a team might trade up to 6 and grab KT. So NYG grabbed KT at 5 and took whichever T was left at 7. Neal slides right in at RT.

There was quite a bit of smoke regarding NYG and Cross in the pre-draft process. I'm speculating that they may have performed the amount of HW that they did on him in the event both Ekonwu and Neal were picked in the top 4. Given the uncertainty coming into the draft at the top, NYG planned for all scenarios. Ultimately, Cross is regarded as the most natural LT in the draft, but NYG didn't need a LT. Neal is more comfortable on the right. Great pick for NYG.

George Pickens is an interesting case. Super talented. Tore his ACL in March of 2021, barely played this past year. Another big thing though is off the field concerns per Breer. Breer has also said that Pickens is completely off some team's boards "due to maturity and reliability concerns."

GB, KC, and ARI have done a lot of HW on Pickens per Fowler at ESPN.

The Athletic had a piece out a week or so ago. They talked to a bunch of execs and scouts around the league to get a feel for various players at different positions. One scout said "There's a lot of upside, but he can't get out of his own way. He's been enabled his whole life."

On talent alone, when healthy, he's easily a 1st round talent. Without the off the field concerns and without the injury, had he played a full year this past year, he likely would have been a top 12 pick. The landing spot is going to be crucial for him. Hopefully he makes it to a team with an established core and a solid group of veterans.

I think saquon is finished. He plays like a guy who is afraid to get hurt.

Can see NYG going CB at 36.

Andrew Booth could very well have been a first rounder but he recently had core surgery, which isn't a long term issue. If he is there he should be the guy.

In my anecdotal experience, the pattern is Jets/Mets/Islanders and Giants/Yankees/Rangers. This Jets/Rangers combination is weird and it's bugging me out that it seems to be so popular on here.
As a Jets fan in queens why on earth would I be an Islanders fan? I'm offended by the very idea!

Fair enough. But they have had a stellar draft so far. Makes it less of a concern IMO.
I mean, I guess you can either try to fill as many holes as possible, or also just go BPA and try to build some really strong position groups. They could be really good at RB. I guess it's one of those "Rome wasn't built in a day" types of things. Safety and OL maybe get built next year.

The Giants sure do love reaching in the 2nd round for guys that will be available in the 7th round. No idea why a team with 5 legit NFL players and 48 guys unworthy of the CFL feels the need to reach when there are actual NFL players on the board.

I get it, I just don't know if RB was an area they needed to address at that point.
They use a rbbc and while Carter was really good, they can use another one. Plus this gives them a huge workhorse type guy.

A tiny slot receiver in the second round is not ideal.
