He's not the top DE, but I think he's the best DE for the Jets specifically. He's had to bet on himself and overcome big odds in his unusual route to the NFL. The Jets need more guys like that who will hear all the noise about curses and the Jets being incapable of winning and just push right through it. I'm excited.

I still like Karlaftis as another potential DE pickup. I'd love to pick up McBride (TE out of Colorado State), too.

Travis Jones seems like a good Fatukasi replacement tomorrow for the Jets, even down to both of them going to Uconn.

Could see Brisker or Pitre for safety help, Dean would be great for ILB, just don’t see him lasting to 38 for the Jets.

Aaron Rodgers and Pat Mahomes lost their top WR. Teams can't afford to pay the QB and WR big money. Their teams didn't address that area of need in the 1st round. You can find good WR's in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. In 2019, Deebo Samuel, AJ Brown and DK Metcalf were 2nd round picks. Dionte Johnson and Terry McLaurin were a 3rd round pick. Hunter Renfrow was a 5th round pick. Hollywood Brown was a 1st round pick. Who are those players this year? Six WR's went in the first round last night. The top 6 WR's on Dane Bulger's(The Athletic) board went in the 1st round. Burger has 2nd round grades on Skyy Moore and George Pickens. Jalen Tobert and Christian Watson have 2nd/3rd round grades. Tyreek Hill was a 5th round pick and Davante Adams was a 2nd round pick. We will see.

If I'm Hamilton I'd be pissed too. He lost millions, by dropping so much, right? I'm not up to date, but the higher you're picked the more salary the ELC commands. Don't like him landing with the Ravens either, makes it hard to root for him, lol.

Huge day for the NYC teams.

Love this draft.
My ideal prototype CB is Shawn Springs type, speed + flexibility and bonus height denies taller guys.
Sauce has extra inches + reach, justifies selection. College stats announced confirm that.

The Wilson WR is solid. I think the guy w/most upside, w/ACL damage needs to sit out til into the season, he'll be ok now, but is this a concern going forward? Is this guy gonna have repeat injury blowouts? I'd gamble but not this high w/who was there. Yes, other higher end guys there, but this was sufficient upside and safe to be worth it.
View this as a definite Mattingly against a maybe, possible Gehrig.
Wilson will be George Sauer II with a bit more speed.
Wilson to Wilson will be real.

Obv, taking who we took late 1st round is high value and a great fit for Saleh D scheme.

Above post 714 notwthstanding, we nevertheless gotta try to upgrade OL for Wilson. Becton stays.

W/JJ added, + the guy who was a top 2-3 pick recently for SF is in Jets camp, I would do
to Chargers Williams + Williams/+
for
to Jets Slater +

===============================================

other thing is DET really wants needs QB Mallik Willis.
Jets have 38
38 for overpay
or pref
38++++ for Sewell

Hamilton plays the wrong position. CB, LT and pass rusher. You need to defend against the pass and pressure the QB. You need LT to protect your own QB. WR has become a premium position. So many teams are trading up for WR’s. People had the Jets taking Hamilton at #4. The Jets don’t really place a lot of value at S. They traded Adams to Seattle because they didn’t want to pay him. I was reading the reviews on the Raven’s draft. They needed a CB and pass rusher. They took Hamilton and the center from Iowa who is not very big(under 300 pounds)and has short arms.

Jets with an incredible day 1 draft. Got our star DE and Corner. Love sauce and Johnson. Wilson im eh on, i wanted Williams. I just see Williams truly being special in this league.

Nkobe Dean, or David Ojabo in the 2nd and damn thats how we restart the team! Oh baby!

Consensus had Hamilton outside the top 10 so why should he be pissed? He was picked pretty much as expected.

I don't know how accurate this is (was the 2022 scale released?) but here is where each draft pick slots in terms of their contract. 2022 NFL Draft Tracker

He was a top 5 pick before the combine/ pro day.

So what Travon Walker was a 2nd round pick before the combine!

People get to caught up in the combine. Hamilton is really good but not worth a top 5 selection. He doesnt play a premier position nor do teams want waste a top 5 pick on a player like that. He went to the ravens and will be perfectly fine there.

In my anecdotal experience, the pattern is Jets/Mets/Islanders and Giants/Yankees/Rangers. This Jets/Rangers combination is weird and it's bugging me out that it seems to be so popular on here.

Its likely from parents who grew up in queens in the 50's -60's pre islanders. Jets are originally from queens, so it makes sense.

You know what else...I low key pull for the Jets to be successful. I don't have anything against that franchise. Giants/Jets feels like a manufactured "rivalry", if you can even call it that, just because they both represent NY. Maybe there's historical context, but nothing from the last 25 years that I remember.

why on earth would the chargers trade the only tackle they've drafted in many years, who had an outstanding rookie year...period, there is not a player on the Jets the chargers would trade slater for. About as untouchable as Herbert.
