Its interesting that Chicago just traded 2 draft picks for a rental in Sweat. I guess they want to re-sign him and or maybe franchise him. Just seems weird.

As a Commanders fan I hate seeing Sweat go,but a 2nd for a 27yo FA to be is too good to pass up.I'm fine with the return on Young too,the guy can't stay on the field.Bosa and Young on the Niners could be lethal though

I want what I want
He can be moving in motion and get a handoff. Doesn't have to be Slay. Can be Hyatt. I'm not saying it is risk free. I just would rather work the clock than attempt that FG on a rainy field with an injured kicker. Could have had a bad snap on a wet ball on the FG as well. Just hindsight debate.
I look at it this way. If your FG kicker is healthy enough to be on the field, then he's healthy enough to kick a 35 yd friggin field goal. It's his only job. He made one from 31 earlier and was handling kick-offs (for touchbacks). I can't fault Daboll for thinking his FG kicker can kick a dink FG and then forcing the Jets with Wilson at QB to go 75 yards in 25 seconds. Fans are overthinking this. Kicker does his job, game is all but over.

I understand your point of view but the kicker who has been very reliable for years has not been reliable this season, needs knee surgery, it is a rainy day, we have already had a FG blocked this season, and he had already missed a FG on that day. I really viewed the clock as the main issue in that situation not points. Not saying Dabes was wrong but that situation was not the norm imo.

As a Giants fan its a shame that we have lost games by a yard and now based on the missed FG situation. We are still only 2 games out of the playoffs.

IF he can't kick a 35 yard field goal then he can't kick a field goal EVER. ie. He shouldn't be dressed. If he's dressed then kick the damn field goal. It's 25 seconds. Clock is NOT an issue if he kicks the damn field goal.

Well in previous seasons he could kick field goals reliably. Since his injury he has not been able to kick FG reliably. Also chance of a bad snap with a wet ball. You want to look at things in a vacuum but sadly there were other factors in play. Also if we kick the FG we give the Jets a chance for a run back. I'd rather either go for the 1 yard on the ground and let the clock run or have our punter do a squib punt and keep the clock running.

Get rid of the bad snap/wet ball stuff. It wasn't a problem the rest of the day. No problem for the Jets and Zuerlein. Same issue would be had on any play.

The only factor is he pulled a field goal wide from 35 yards. He made one from 31 yards earlier. He had the leg on the 47 yarder, just pulled it a little. He kicked TWO touchbacks during the game. Another returned from the endzone. Daboll chooses to go for a 1 yard gain in that position. I have no problem with that as it's aggresive but doable and your asking your RB and line to do their jobs but stupid stuff like direct snapping and running the other way or a Squib kick from the 20 yard line is bringing in a whole lot of other bad things happening.

If anything, if I were you, I'd be pissed that Gano was even dressed since his issues were known for two weeks prior. Since it was known and they dressed him any way. The coach has to believe he can do his job.

In the end, we won't agree on it.

The decision doesn't even matter. They were going to have around a 99% chance to win regardless. It's splitting hairs. Any decision was fine.

True. It's getting to my underlying point. Fans pinning this on Daboll when really, it's just awful execution by the players.

Giants coaches says McDonald illegally lined up on missed FG. Rules seem to support that according to NY Post. Giants should have brought it up then not now imo.

I can't believe people are still talking about this game. This isn't directed at you by any means by the way.

Everyone would do best to Men in Black erase that game from not just their memories, but the history of the NFL.

You are right. Its just tough for Giants fans knowing we lost 2 games like we did. Could be 4-4 and tied for 7th playoff spot.

Yeah, I can understand that. Like someone else said though, Gano makes the kick and it's over. The Waller PI call then no call, yeah blame the refs that's BS. But this one is totally on Gano IMO.

Gano should not have been kicking imo. He is now having knee surgery. The refs apparently missed the illegal lineup by Will McDonald on the FG but oh well.
