I know the talk about the end sequence centers around whether the Giants should have gone for it or kicked it. In the moment I actually thought they should have pooched it. A decent pooch and you take 7-8 second off the clock (potentially more if it rolls) and push the Jets back even farther.

I was okay with the FG, too. Honestly there is logic to all three options.
To me the clock management was much more important than a 35 yard FG in the rain with a hurting kicker. They could have run wide to eat a few ticks. I did not think of a punt but you are right that is another option. Dabes choosing the ball in OT makes no sense to me. The Giants were not driving 75 yards for a TD in OT. One of the crazy decisions in my opinion.

On the other side of the ball the KT offsides hurt, the tackling instead of letting the guy run another 1 second hurt, the defense could have laid on top of Lazard for 1-2 ticks, and the no real spot of the ball by the ball judge was not ideal for the Giants. The ball judge actually did the right thing to give the Jets a chance if he was somewhat sure the ball placement was close to a real spot.

I think the Giants really threw this game away but you have to give the Jets credit for making it happen as well.

Honestly...f*** them!

Jones acting like a little bitch when Daboll confronts him, to another schmuck criticizing "burger flippers" because fans have the audacity of calling them out on their incompetence.

These players have grown accustomed to taking a nice steaming pile of shit on the field and then having the coach get the kibosh.

Keep Daboll, get rid of most of these schmucks on offense and get new blood on this team.
This. The coach isn't the problem. Schoen and Daboll have a clear vision for how they want the team to play. They don't have the right horses on offense.

Yeah receiving the ball on OT is the one I won't defend. You give that to the Jets all day. That was the only point I felt somewhat confident in the Jets chances.

DJ was ruled out of Friday. If a mistake was made than it was made on Friday because once he was ruled out on Friday they can not change it on Sunday. If they had listed him as doubtful on Friday than he still could have played on Sunday.
Thanks, that makes a ton of sense.

Sounds like the doctor who does the neck tests to clear for contact was only available Sunday morning, which begs the question of why he was ruled out Friday before they conducted this test.

Ironically they had DJ listed as doubtful the week before. I think they should have done the same thing this week just in case. DJ could have backed up TT. Oh well.

In normal circumstances I would want the ball but with the current rules, QB that did not complete a pass, rainy conditions, etc the odds of us scoring a TD were like 1% so then all the Jets need to do is kick a FG to win. The odds were against us in OT no matter what but under those conditions our only real chance was to stop the Jets and we kick a FG. That was unlikely but but way better chance than driving 75 yards for a TD imo.

My Daboll gripe yesterday was honestly not milking the clock MORE if that was the stupid game plan they were going with.

Their 2nd half playbook being all runs basically made the offense run a glorified kneel on every down. Shitty but if that’s what you’re going to do why are you snapping the ball with 10-15 seconds left on the play clock? Run that shit down as much as you can! Zach Wilson end game spike had what? 2 seconds left? Annoying.

OMG that is what others have asked as well. Just bad bad bad strategy. You are exactly right! Clock management in general has been bad this season but yesterday it was really bad. It was so much better last season.

I'm a person that rarely blames coaches but I do have a question in my mind.

If we are not going to allow our QB to throw the ball for the whole second half would it be an option to take the QB out at times? Eliminate the handoffs? Add an extra blocker and do some direct snaps to Barkley and Brieda?

Getting a 2nd and a 5th for Leo was a trade Joe Schoen could not pass up. No chance we would have re-signed him. Seattle really going for it.

Adoree Jackson and Xman have had pretty questionable seasons. I wonder if they are next?

I was at the stadium today.

It was very cold.

Also, I think a few people were playing football? Couldn't tell. Didn't seem like it to me.

Regardless, lots of fun. Went with my 3 Jets fan buddies and we all had fun even if the game itself was f***ing awful.
I didn't go to this game but commiserate with you for watching a garbage game in terrible weather.

Giants sound like they are picking up most of the remaining $10 mill salary ($1 mill per week basically). Probably why it is a 2nd and not a 3rd. (Seattle owns Denver's 3rd, which I would guess, they preferred to move, but if NY is picking up most of the remainder of the contract, Seattle gave up the extra 15 or so draft positions).

That makes sense for both teams. Seattle may be drafting late. Next up hopefully will be Adoree who has been really bad going back to Philly last season.

Good. Jackson and Barkley next. Saw Parris Campbell thrown out there as well. Fine by me I guess if you can even get a 7th for him.

I almost forgot Paris was on the team. He has been a complete let down so far this season. Wish we kept the guy we had last year instead.

Holy cow this is some Bill Bellicheck type thinking. Would this have worked?

Bad idea because if he doesn’t get into the own end zone and someone catches him you give up a field goal without the other team needing to do anything. You’re also highly increasing the chance of a mistake by putting players in positions they’re not used to

It is risky but Slay is a 4.3 to 4.4 guy and he would have a good head start. I do not think he would be caught. I would be more worried about a incomplete pass or a bad handoff to him. I would have done anything to manage the clock in that situation. I look at the clock as the key more than the 3 points.

I don't think it's much of a head start. He has to catch the snap, turn around, and run the other way while the other team is charging in on him. He can very easily fumble the shotgun snap since it is something he is not familiar with.

He can be moving in motion and get a handoff. Doesn't have to be Slay. Can be Hyatt. I'm not saying it is risk free. I just would rather work the clock than attempt that FG on a rainy field with an injured kicker. Could have had a bad snap on a wet ball on the FG as well. Just hindsight debate.
