My personal opinion has been that one of the few things helping to maintain sanity as a fan is this board. Because you have outspoken critics and dissent and people not willing (IMO rightfully so) to give the organization the benefit of the doubt . there are alternative Flyers hangouts on the Internet (Flyers sub reddit comes to mind) where the 80s/90s Stepford syndrome rages hard and people can always go there if they want glass is 5% full blind optimism instead of 95% empty realism.

WHy do they have to play 5 minutes a night? The 4th line plays 5 minutes a night because they're horrible. They can put different players there and then play them more minutes. This is possible. Many teams do this. The Flyers did too, many years ago.

Every place is what you make of it. I get yelled at for half my Eagles takes. It's ok. Most people just disagree instead of making it personal and those interactions are enjoyable. The actual exchange of ideas and the shitposting are the fun parts.

This is very true. I think that Hathaway has some value and will be gone at or before the TDL for a 3rd rounder or so. Deslauriers is a complete disaster. So is Staal. Then there’s Laughton whose play has been the largest degression on the team. They need to get out of the way.
The big issue is so you move out these guys and bring up replacements from LV, so what? Lappy has done little to develop them into better players and Tortorella has never done that either. Changes need to be made for development here.

Drysdale needs work on defense, I hope they did their homework on whether he's coachable. Half of defense is desire, the other half is mostly IQ.

One issue with talented players on bad teams is they can fall into the habit of stat chasing for their next contract since you're gonna lose anyway, and that can be an attitude that's hard to break.

Yeahhhh those pairings are not nearly as stable and concrete as you're pretending. It also doesn't change that both should have been traded. So the team can have assets they use to become good. Is me wanting the team to become good too negative for you? That's inherently optimistic.

Hathaway and des are playing bottom line minutes. Hell, sometimes they don't even get 5 minutes. If we're going to replace them, then we are replacing them with bottom six players that aren't going to see the ice. I say this as a man that f***ing hates that Deslauriers is on this team. Risto is being paid 5m a year and if rumours are to be believed, teams were scouting him this year. Risto crime was the cost 5m 1 2 2's (3 if include dumping Ghost for cap) that isn't Risto's fault. Its Flushers. There is always at least one gm who overpays for a physical dman and gets burned. Hopefully still out there.

Cam is done. You have no shot to get anything even at 3m. Lets face facts. Your decision is buyout or let contract play its course. But there is not one single reason on God's green earth Cam should play over Frost or Brink in the first 40 games. a 6th round pick for cam at 3m is not worth slowing down the development of any player under 27 on this roster. I would far rather play any player 23-27 and find out he can't play over Cam playing. Cam on the pp was a crime against humanity! I can live with Foerster not scoring over growing pains. I totally agree with you on the insane benching of Frost, Brink and Foerster. Completely irrational and moronic. I despise Torts for this shit.

However, if Hathaway returns a 4th rounded for 2.35mil, his signing was totally worth it. Its basically a free draft pick for a plug.
