Seravalli was willing to go on the record that Zegras is available, huh?

The Flyers being able to get Zellweger (and picks?!) or Zegras for Gauthier and not doing so will be my point of reference for years to come. I know he's had a slow start, but Zegras+Michkov+Konecny might've made me a believer in the pure skill department. If you're a believer in constructing a contender without an elite offensive center, it probably looks like that on the wing.

But we know why Zegras was a no-go. And we know why Drysdale (RD, 6th overall sell) was preferable to Zellweger. Neither comes with good process.

so kid decided not to sign and most importantly refused to talk because Flyers said hey...lets do this next year? wow.. what a little f***ing p***y.

Anyway, I just hope Michkov wont be blocked to come here bevcause it may happen...

Every article I've seen valued Drysdale higher than Zellweger.

There are two problems with Zegras, one is Anaheim might not want to have traded him for a winger, second if Flyers might not have wanted him b/c he's not elite offensively, but he's regressed defensively as he's gone on a salary hunt.

Not that you need to be told this obviously, but it just shows to go ya what this org thinks of RD lol. They really think that's the most valuable position on any cup winning team

They were/are stockpiling a core of young assets (some even doing nice things at the NHL level) but yeah I don’t think Verbeek is actually a good GM. His moves at the NHL level have been pretty questionable to this point.

Totally agree with everything posted here. I took a break this season from HFboards, and it's genuinely been fun watching this team most nights. Just flat out enjoying the games and not waiting for the next statement about how the bottom line sucks, how much Torts kills children, or how the front office are assholes.

I raised this a few years back and got shot down. But it's literally the reason that so many flyers fans don't post here. When you mooch around the main boards there are so many more fans with flyers logos than you see here. This place also has an absolutely stinking rep on pretty much every other board or sub Reddit for its constant negativity.

I came here after the trade and read through a couple of posts and I want to hang myself. It's literally non stop. It's just a constant circle jerk of flat out effort trolling by people like Deadhead, and the same rehashed put downs about the team.

There's no valid discussion here anymore like there was in the Richards Era. I mean f***, there's only like 5 threads that are even active.

You act like it's unreasonable, but we keep being right.

So it's very reasonable.

22-23 Anaheim was one of the most dysfunctional teams ever assembled. You can't give me the Anaheim excuse for why Drysdale has underperformed (which I don't outright dismiss) and then use that argument against Zegras. Anaheim has been putrid for years too. He very much has elite offensive ability, and he was virtually tied with Terry for team lead in points over his first 2 seasons. I don't really see his arc as much different than Clayton Keller.

Tortorella would raise a stink if they mentioned Zegras. That's the reason. We don't have to pretend otherwise.

Waiting for the TSN insider trading panel to discuss this, should be soon.

Why didn't he raise a stink about Drysdale, though? Doesn't seem like a profile he'd covet

Because he knows Zegras from the Michigan controversy. I doubt he knew Drysdale from a hole in the wall. Supposedly, he watched tape on him before the trade and his takeaway was he needs to teach him how to defend.

It's not the profile he'd covet. So buckle in, I guess? But maybe Drysdale will ask to wrestle Tortorella in his office and all bets are off.

Do you genuinely believe Anaheim would have taken Gauthier for Zegras straight up though? Because I'm pretty certain they wouldn't.

Had to do a lot of driving today so heard Toronto radio (missed Charlie O though). Consensus is that Cutter was within his rights to not want to sign, his big mistake was ghosting them at the WJC. Most think the Flyers 'did some good business' in getting Drysdale and a 2nd, most thought a straight up deal would do. Other astounding thing was that a nobody executive like Hilferty actually went after a player publicly like that. Clown show continues.

Time to move on.

I asked for your opinion specifically. But your dodging another question. Just following the same posts as everyone else again.

Hathaway and des are playing bottom line minutes. Hell, sometimes they don't even get 5 minutes. If we're going to replace them, then we are replacing them with bottom six players that aren't going to see the ice. I say this as a man that f***ing hates that Deslauriers is on this team. He's a f***ing joke.

There is nothing wrong with Hathaway on the bottom line. He's a decent penalty killer too. What more do you actually want?

Risto is being paid 5m a year and if rumours are to be believed, teams were scouting him this year. You want Briere to put him in the minors where we have absolutely 0 chance of being able to move him through a dumb GM? Seems like piss poor asset management. The same argument can be made for Atkinson. He started the season on fire, and Brieres eyes must have lit up. We aren't getting rid of him if his ass is in the minors either.

But as I stated earlier. Who on the Phantoms do you want to replace them with? Because that cupboard is bare too!

Hathaway is trash. He's bad. Independent of who he is playing with, he as an individual has played like a steaming idiot. He has perhaps, maybe, 3 competent passes all season.

They play bottom line minutes. Let's give those minutes to something with upside. They could even actually play more minutes and relieve the load on the top line, too.

I need to list young players on the Phantoms? You need me to do that? You require that? You cannot think of any of them yourself? You cannot imagine Allison, or Laczynski, or not benching Brink, or Lycksell, or seeing how real Tuomaala is? That needs to be explicitly stated for you when I say there is no upside to playing those washed up slugs over prospects, of which we have several options?

If teams want Ristolainen then he should be gone. Why is he still here? Give him away. If anyone wants that contract leap at the opportunity to clear it. If you can do it without taking a loss that's a win.

Staal should never have been signed, should not be playing ever. Seeler should have been traded at the last deadline. Walker should be gone by now too. And Laughton, who peaked last year and is trashing his value currently.

There. Plenty of spots opened after getting some returns and moving the team forward in an actual rebuilding fashion. Easy.

The Flyers don't do it because they don't want to. Sorry if this is too negative for you, good luck reconciling your positivity with the team missing the playoffs again, and with nothing changing for years to come. You'll eventually figure this out.
