Lyon got the Flyers to burn a year of his ELC without him playing a single game.
Seravalli was willing to go on the record that Zegras is available, huh?
But younger at heart. If only other parts of my anatomy followed suit! You are older than I am, you cheeky bastard.
IIRC they signed him as a UDFA at the conclusion of Yale’s season and basically had him “stay at home” and did him a solid with burning a year. Can you explain that to me? And why didn’t we do the same? Smh
That was when Holmgren was GM right? He probably had more power than any GM since he stepped down.Lyon got the Flyers to burn a year of his ELC without him playing a single game.

Every article I've seen valued Drysdale higher than Zellweger. The Flyers being able to get Zellweger or Zegras for Gauthier and not doing so will be my point of reference for years to come. I know he's had a slow start, but Zegras+Michkov+Konecny might've made me a believer in the skill department. If you're a believer in constructing a contender without an elite offensive center, it looks like that on the wing.
But we know why Zegras was a no-go. And we know why Drysdale was preferable to Zellweger. Neither comes with good process.
Not that you need to be told this obviously, but it just shows to go ya what this org thinks of RD lol. They really think that's the most valuable position on any cup winning teamThe Flyers being able to get Zellweger (and picks?!) or Zegras for Gauthier and not doing so will be my point of reference for years to come. I know he's had a slow start, but Zegras+Michkov+Konecny might've made me a believer in the pure skill department. If you're a believer in constructing a contender without an elite offensive center, it probably looks like that on the wing.
But we know why Zegras was a no-go. And we know why Drysdale (RD, 6th overall sell) was preferable to Zellweger. Neither comes with good process.

My current understanding of the unfolding of events is as follows:So, do we have any consensus understanding of the timeline here?
Uh, they told him he didn’t want to be a Flyer after the World Championship last year. So, do we have any consensus understanding of the timeline here?
He's on a line with Nic f***ing Deslauriers. Mcdavid would be a -10 with that gangly f***Knuckle twat.Hathaway has 5 points and has been outscored 18 goals to 6
Totally agree with everything posted here. I took a break this season from HFboards, and it's genuinely been fun watching this team most nights. Just flat out enjoying the games and not waiting for the next statement about how the bottom line sucks, how much Torts kills children, or how the front office are assholes.
I raised this a few years back and got shot down. But it's literally the reason that so many flyers fans don't post here. When you mooch around the main boards there are so many more fans with flyers logos than you see here. This place also has an absolutely stinking rep on pretty much every other board or sub Reddit for its constant negativity.
I came here after the trade and read through a couple of posts and I want to hang myself. It's literally non stop. It's just a constant circle jerk of flat out effort trolling by people like Deadhead, and the same rehashed put downs about the team.
There's no valid discussion here anymore like there was in the Richards Era. I mean f***, there's only like 5 threads that are even active.
There are two problems with Zegras, one is Anaheim might not want to have traded him for a winger, second if Flyers might not have wanted him b/c he's not elite offensively, but he's regressed defensively as he's gone on a salary hunt.
Why didn't he raise a stink about Drysdale, though? Doesn't seem like a profile he'd covet22-23 Anaheim was one of the most dysfunctional teams ever assembled. You can't give me the Anaheim excuse for why Drysdale has underperformed (which I don't outright dismiss) and then use that argument against Zegras. Anaheim has been putrid for years too. He very much has elite offensive ability, and he was virtually tied with Terry for team lead in points over his first 2 seasons.
Tortorella would raise a stink if they mentioned Zegras. That's the reason. We don't have to pretend otherwise.
Sigh. You totally missed the point, flew right over your head. Which isn't surprised given your history in ducking questions about your statements. You act like it's unreasonable, but we keep being right.
So it's very reasonable.

Do you genuinely believe Anaheim would have taken Gauthier for Zegras straight up though? Because I'm pretty certain they wouldn't.22-23 Anaheim was one of the most dysfunctional teams ever assembled. I asked for your opinion specifically. But your dodging another question. Just following the same posts as everyone else again.
Hathaway and des are playing bottom line minutes. Hell, sometimes they don't even get 5 minutes. If we're going to replace them, then we are replacing them with bottom six players that aren't going to see the ice. I say this as a man that f***ing hates that Deslauriers is on this team. He's a f***ing joke.
There is nothing wrong with Hathaway on the bottom line. He's a decent penalty killer too. What more do you actually want?
Risto is being paid 5m a year and if rumours are to be believed, teams were scouting him this year. You want Briere to put him in the minors where we have absolutely 0 chance of being able to move him through a dumb GM? Seems like piss poor asset management. The same argument can be made for Atkinson. He started the season on fire, and Brieres eyes must have lit up. We aren't getting rid of him if his ass is in the minors either.
But as I stated earlier. Who on the Phantoms do you want to replace them with? Because that cupboard is bare too!
