The thing with the benchings, that certain guys are "good" and "bad" and all that. Clearly the team is trying to establish a culture and an identity, and that involves practicing well, being receptive to coaching, etc. This is the time to really emphasize it, try to get something in place while the team grows, and have a foundation for the next wave of players. If a guy is playing poorly but practicing well and doing everything you ask of him with a positive attitude, you know what? We're not a playoff team, that dude can play if his approach is setting the example you want to set. The more talented guy or guy who is playing better isn't doing what you ask, isn't practicing hard or right, has a bad attitude, etc.? Bench his ass.

Humongous big game. We're 6 points ahead of Ottawa with 2 games in hand. 3 points ahead of the Flyers with 1 game in hand.

Yep. Either way this is gonna be a sucky hockey week. We beat the Flyers and Devils that's gonna be a big dent in the tank and if we lose to them...well it's never fun to lose to those teams. For the long run gotta go with the latter.

He will be lucky to skate on the 4th line. Probably will be the 7th d getting about 6-8 minutes of playing time. Kid should be playing top 4 d minutes win, lose or draw. It's painfully obvious at this point there is no trade market for guys like Staal and Smith no matter how much we play them.

Disappointed to see things be like this with Buch. He has talent but if he won't respond to the coach's instructions then maybe it's time to move on. Being "coachable" as a player can not be underestimated.

30 minutes of ice time for ADA is Pronger levels. Glad to see he's progressing.

While Buch has been extremely disappointing I do agree with the notion that he shouldn't be out of the lineup before Howden.

If Buch "needs to play better" then what the f*** does Howden need to do?
