You can call me names all you want. Literally no one has challenged the assertion I made that the trade involving McD and Miller is anything other than a complete failure with anything other than name calling. If anyone wants to engadge in actual dialogue about the trade then let’s have it. If not, please stop wasting your time.
I just don't get how Pionk seems to have hoodwinked an entire organization into thinking that he's more than he is.
He skates hard and looks like he's trying hard but the results (and I'm talking eye test here, not even considering his abysmal analytics) just aren't there. I see a kid who works hard and moves well but makes tons of mistakes and is probably the weakest in the defensive zone of all 8 defensemen on the roster. Based on how he has performed he should be viewed as a 3rd pair sheltered role and a PP2 usage guy.
Instead, he gets TOUGH minutes on the defacto first pair which he has endlessly floundered in, which isn't good for him or the team.
First didn't call you a name just that ridiculous post.
Second, to call that trade anything near some of the catastrophes that the Rangers have made is lol to the max.
That trade won't be evaluated properly for at least a few years. To say omg it's the worst trade is up there with saying Boo Nieves is an NHL #1C, a ridiculous notion.
Call your post hyperbole or a dialog starter if you will, great, I think it's just the opposite. The fact nobody has challenged you on your assertion, is more like people not wanting to bang their head against a wall. Rather than that trade being anywhere near the disaster you think it was, let alone even close to something like trading Zubov or Middleton or <insert numerous other really bad Rangers trades>.
I remain hopeful I'm wrong but I imagine this trade will go down as awful in a few years once it can be properly evaluated.
Hasn’t Miller been awful for them?
Should we have insisted on Point? Yes.Could not agree more. He’s absolutely one of the most useless players on a roster filled with useless players! This is just further proof that the Miller and Mcd trade to Tampa will go down as one of the absolute worst trades in franchise history. The Rangers had Tampa in a position where they knew Tampa wanted to acquire real talent for the stretch run and they totally settled for second rate talent.
Is that a good or bad thing? He actually has been looking better. Better than he has ever been.......for the Rangers at least. Still not even close to what we NEED, honestly we don't NEED him. Still have no clue as to what in the hell they were thinking. No foresight whatsoever? Didnt have a clue we were going to rebuild? One step forward, 2 steps back. SMH.Keep Hayes. I doubt they get back what he is worth.
Buchnevich is good as gone.
Shattenkirk is once again Shattenkirk.
Kreider has stopped disappearing.
Side note: Bobby Orr's legs looked physically different than any other player. Dahlin's legs bend at that same unique angle.
Liked those players (especially Grabs, for entertainment purposes) but what in the hell were they gonna bring us? More misery, more 2nd round (at best) losses.I think it was a terrible mistake to trade McDonagh, Miller and Grabner. The Girardi buyout was also money down the drains. With them here this team would be a cup contender. But now I'm afraid they will struggle for years to come.
Thanks to Dolan, he gave the order to break up the team, and now he wants to sell everything.
Of course. Ugh. Gotta fall over themselves to rush to scratch TDA and reunite the garbage pair.
A new GM......"should" think seriously about making trades BEFORE the deadline. I woukd think the "pressure" would be immense. I would bet anything he had at least ONE offer that would have been better.......much earlier than deadline. He gambled and I am not going to say "lost", because the verdict is still out......but.....maybe he has learned his lesson?Really? You are clearly willing to get back garbage for the captain of the team and a player who had real value as well as two late first round picks that Gordon should have known would be 25 or higher at best. Please don't pretend that this was even close to acceptable. He waited to the trade deadline, made a panic move and was fleeced. I expect more when trading away the captain and a high end talent. By your standards the Rangers will remain awful for years to come.
Someone is going to have to fill Jespers shoes, right? We are the Rangers, we fill our bottom 6 first, then concentrate on our top 6 and 1st pair.Never said it was the worst- said it was one of the worst and I was clearly using hyperbole. A lateral move when trading your captain and a player, who, at the time, was very sought after is not good enough. Plain and simple.
You are right to say that we can’t totaly know yet if this trade ends up a disaster but the indications are it will not be looked at as a Ranger win! Some people on here act as if Gorton or any GM should be held to the same standards as any one of us who sit in that office. I think he should be held to a much higher standard! He has the entire organization at his disposal to evaluate talent and gather information to make trades. The talent he was clearly able to evaluate, Names and Howden don’t appear to be good. Names is flat out horrible and Howden seems like maybe another one to add to the heap of 3rd or 4th line guys( this team sure is going to be filed with those type of players it seems!). The reality is, when you go in front of the fan base and say “here’s the plan, we rebuild” and your first blockbuster move looks like it will be, at best— using your words— a lateral move, I can’t help but question this group’s ability to evaluate talent. Couple that with the horrible Lias Anderson pick( I don’t mean horrible because he showed nothing in his time up here) I mean horrible because anyone who can see saw how slow he was and how the game is far too quick for him at the NHL level, and I’m left with nothing to conclude other than negatively towards the current front office. Simply put, if these guys can’t evaluate talent, I don’t want them running the rebuild. Gorton might be a great GM for an established franchise, but he looks way in over his head so far with this rebuild.
He needs to be a pissed off Russian and take that anger out on the entire NHL. Use it constructively, play with a chip on your shoulder kid. Grow the eff up already, put on your big boy pants.......or coast and enjoy the good ole' USA. (Do the former)AV didn't like him, Quinn doesn't like him. I think Pavel's career could be in trouble, he needs to do something about it.
Not limited to sports coaches.I'm convinced that every coach will have at least one good player that he dislikes for no reason and vice versa.

Choice 3......go big or go back home.
