Lol thinking the McDonagh trade is among the worst in franchise history.

It wasn't even a bad trade.

I think it was a terrible mistake to trade McDonagh, Miller and Grabner. The Girardi buyout was also money down the drains. With them here this team would be a cup contender. But now I'm afraid they will struggle for years to come.

Thanks to Dolan, he gave the order to break up the team, and now he wants to sell everything.

I didn't notice a playmaker out there, just a lot of shots the goalie could see and save.

I did notice a lot of hit posts. So thought bad luck player a big factor. Could Zucc make a difference sure maybe, but think the efforts were there just could not cash in on them. As per the plays. Some nice plays made last night especially from the D.

Could not agree more. He’s absolutely one of the most useless players on a roster filled with useless players! This is just further proof that the Miller and Mcd trade to Tampa will go down as one of the absolute worst trades in franchise history. The Rangers had Tampa in a position where they knew Tampa wanted to acquire real talent for the stretch run and they totally settled for second rate talent.

I definitely agree about trading Grabner years ago. He got traded because Torts hated him. Two months later, Torts was gone. Slats shouldn't have pulled the trigger so fast and Grabs would have outlasted his nemesis.

Now I'm coming around to thinking we shouldn't have traded McD. I think the coach (AV) got stale with him and he played like he was lost. I'm glad to see him coming around now but I wish we still had him.

That was in reference to the summer of 2016 when the potential McD for Oilers 4th OA pick deal was explored, not the trade deadline last year.

Yes, I know. I don't profess to be the most knowledgeable person with these things. It just seems to me, from that article, that other GMs didn't look at McD as highly as Gorton tried to sell him, even if it was the previous summer. #1 factor was the particular market at last year's deadline, of course, but that summer of 2016 still must've had some influence. It just seems to me the number of teams willing to deal with Gorton dwindled and strengthened Yzerman's position. I preclude my comments on the basis that I don't remember the exact market conditions at last year's deadline.

So no rebuild?

For the record, I honestly have no idea what anyone is thinking anymore.

Grabner, a 30-year old UFA to be, was traded last season when AV was coach. Torts was never here while Grabner was.
His price, value in a trade, and age were why he was traded.

Roenick saying on NBC that if Kreider gets traded maybe it will wake him out of his slump and get him scoring goals again.

How is someone allowed to get on the air when they've clearly done ZERO prep work? Kreider is in the midst of a career year, already has 22 goals this year and came off a game where he had a ton of chances but was snakebit. JR was commenting as if he were in the middle of a career worst season and was just invisible in the game. Really bad work by him.

With them here we'd have worse futures by a lot and we'd still get absolutely stomped by the better teams in the league.

Roenick clearly doesn't have the new MSG app now with LIVE STATS!
