Lol thinking the McDonagh trade is among the worst in franchise history.

It wasn't even a bad trade.
After seeing what LA got for Muzzin . . . yup.

Gorton got fleeced like the guy who signs an offer to lease a Jetta for 795 a month with 4000 down.

Thanks to Dolan, he gave the order to break up the team, and now he wants to sell everything.
Because he is dumb as a box of crocs. When you have a once-in-a-lifetime find of a seventh-round-generational pick, you do everything you can to maximize the time he is here and productive.

Of course. Ugh. Gotta fall over themselves to rush to scratch TDA and reunite the garbage pair.

This is comforting, in a twisted way. We all knew that this was going to happen, putting Pionk and Staal back together. So with it happening, we can all rest in peace.

It's really simple. You're drawing conclusions like this off of a single game sample when we all know how pathetically overdone your zuuc fetish is. You get dissed by everyone. It's not bc you like zuke. Its bc "zuke is good" is all u bring to the table...even if it's irrelevant or overblown

It's really simple. That line piled up a huge load of points with Zucc there. Without him = 0.
This should be a concern for the Rangers if he leaves.

Relax dude...stuff like that don't bite on me.

All I said are facts, based on this game. And it is 'in fact' interesting.

Really? You are clearly willing to get back garbage for the captain of the team and a player who had real value as well as two late first round picks that Gordon should have known would be 25 or higher at best. Please don't pretend that this was even close to acceptable. He waited to the trade deadline, made a panic move and was fleeced. I expect more when trading away the captain and a high end talent. By your standards the Rangers will remain awful for years to come.

I just don't get how Pionk seems to have hoodwinked an entire organization into thinking that he's more than he is.

He skates hard and looks like he's trying hard but the results (and I'm talking eye test here, not even considering his abysmal analytics) just aren't there. I see a kid who works hard and moves well but makes tons of mistakes and is probably the weakest in the defensive zone of all 8 defensemen on the roster. Based on how he has performed he should be viewed as a 3rd pair sheltered role and a PP2 usage guy.
Instead, he gets TOUGH minutes on the defacto first pair which he has endlessly floundered in, which isn't good for him or the team.

re: Pionk and usage, only thing I can think of is he has some god-tier stamina that the rest of them don't have and they're setting him up for some long term medium hit (6/21M) type deal and figuring out if he's worth it.

I wish I did after that idiotic post.

You can call me names all you want. Literally no one has challenged the assertion I made that the trade involving McD and Miller is anything other than a complete failure with anything other than name calling. If anyone wants to engadge in actual dialogue about the trade then let’s have it. If not, please stop wasting your time.

Hasn’t Miller been awful for them?

McD has played very well as a 3/4 a luxury we didn’t and don’t have.

We needed to rebuild and weren’t signing either of those guys.

Names isn’t amazing but what did w do with their 1st last draft? What have we done w Howden? What are we doing with the 2nd we get from them this season?

Not sure what more you wanted but it takes two to make a trade and Gorton got what he did.

At worst it was a lateral move that opens us up for a move forward depending on the picks and Howden. No way it was a loss... let alone the WORST trade in NYR history.

Never said it was the worst- said it was one of the worst and I was clearly using hyperbole. A lateral move when trading your captain and a player, who, at the time, was very sought after is not good enough. Plain and simple.

You are right to say that we can’t totaly know yet if this trade ends up a disaster but the indications are it will not be looked at as a Ranger win! Some people on here act as if Gorton or any GM should be held to the same standards as any one of us who sit in that office. I think he should be held to a much higher standard! He has the entire organization at his disposal to evaluate talent and gather information to make trades. The talent he was clearly able to evaluate, Names and Howden don’t appear to be good. Names is flat out horrible and Howden seems like maybe another one to add to the heap of 3rd or 4th line guys( this team sure is going to be filed with those type of players it seems!). The reality is, when you go in front of the fan base and say “here’s the plan, we rebuild” and your first blockbuster move looks like it will be, at best— using your words— a lateral move, I can’t help but question this group’s ability to evaluate talent. Couple that with the horrible Lias Anderson pick( I don’t mean horrible because he showed nothing in his time up here) I mean horrible because anyone who can see saw how slow he was and how the game is far too quick for him at the NHL level, and I’m left with nothing to conclude other than negatively towards the current front office. Simply put, if these guys can’t evaluate talent, I don’t want them running the rebuild. Gorton might be a great GM for an established franchise, but he looks way in over his head so far with this rebuild.

All of that is a decent fear but hey... unless they fire the Pres / GM and scouts u have no choice unless u switch teams.

Have some faith. GM Gorts did well in BOS and now he’s taken over here and has already started the massive undertaking of rebuilding in NY. Last time that actually happened?

Be positive and put that into the universe and maybe it’ll happen
