In all seriousness:

1. The contract shouldn't matter. It can be buried.
2. It almost certainly will matter because...hockey
3. Hockey Guys rushing to sign a depth defenseman like this to a two year deal is just peak for the sport. That's rhetorical. It's because he fights and is "tough to play against". The second year is going to be annoying from a 50 contract limit standpoint (see: Patrick Brown and every AHLer Fletcher gave two year deals to).
At this point, there really is no point in being surprised by how frigging stupid Fletcher is.

The two years makes him pretty waiver proof which means they do value him as depth.
Also the second year being two ways says to me they don't think anyone will beat him out this year but next year is more likely. Ie zamula is a year away

Let the 22-23 tank commence. Any decent coach that decides to come here would either have to be suffering from long term amnesia or owe the mob serious coin.

Chuck is a train wreck and unfortunately we’re the passengers.
Agreed, I think we've finally found our partner in the first pairing for Provy!

I remember last summer when we were assured Seeler wouldn't matter at all. As the 7D he wouldn't play, and he wouldn't block youth.

He played 43 games and blocked youth.
But after that he learned to fight from Zack "the authentic" McEwen!!! He upped his usefulness by 100% if not more!
He will be a flyer for chucky life and we all know it!

What the general manager managed to secure:
Nick Seeler
Rasmus Ristolainen for several years

What the general manager did not manage to secure since DEC:
full time (read: not interim) head coach
Not just Nate Seeler and Risto

BUT SEELER FOR 2 YEARS AND RISTO FOR FIVE. BTW the contract of Risto is backloaded so there is no shot Flyers trading without adding until 2026. 2026. TAKE THAT IN. 2026. Last year Risto at 4m actual cash might be able to moved.

Hopefully Ginning will enjoy 4 years on the Phantoms.

It's not really backloaded. It's mid-loaded.

chuck fletcher is lazy. ive said it before, when you have so many holes, no coach, no direction, why areyou wasting any time on a player like seeler? its not like hes being coveted. and i know people are going to say its no big deal, he will be in the minors, bullshit.
