I posted in the Canes boards, I wonder what would’ve happened if the Lomberg goal in OT1 in Game 1 hadn’t been called off. Certainly would’ve been a less demoralization loss for the Canes and a less energizing, confidence inducing win for the Panthers. Silly thing to think about. I’m sure the Panthers would’ve still won the series, but maybe not a sweep lol. Felt like that 4OT win set the tone for the rest of the series.

I actually thought Carolina responded really well in game 2 (arguably the better team honestly). Our goalie had a harder workload with the saves he had to made imo.

But yeah maybe, you never know.

Meh. It’s a trip alright but I don’t love calling it in that particular moment. You’re basically already in OT and usually they’ll let virtually everything short of manslaughter go in Ot.

Plus it didn't affect the play. It could have easily been let go

Not sure what this is supposed to mean, considering he played great in the finals. The finals have yet to be played, hence my comment. It literally comes down to play in the finals. Of course one is leading, but that series makes or breaks the Conn Smythe.

I think the implication is obvious, he didn't win the award for his play in the finals (where he allowed 19 goals compared to Brodeur's 12.)

Always with oversimplifications. Devils have a young inexperienced core and had questionable goaltending through the season that turned into just bad goaltending. Lost to an experienced playoff group that had mostly been together playing the same system a long time


Canes lost a bunch of close games at least two of which you could say they looked better, and they’re plagued with injuries to their top scorers


Losing Slavin would have hurt either way, but fighting or hitting more wouldn’t have brought their scorers back to health or solved Bob

It could've gotten FLA's players off their rhythm, given them more time to scrape some success together. FLA was able to do whatever they wanted, at will, the entire series with zero repercussions or pushback

Well they were in on Timo and ultimately balked at the price. But hey, at least they had Puuljarvi ready to go if needed.

It's the whole refusal to do rentals that I find egregious. I get why folks don't like them, but how many chances do you really have to win Cup? They had team this year that could have done it with a bit more help. Given they had cap space, good farm system, and pretty much all their picks, what is rationale for not dealing for that help? Do you think Vegas regrets trading maybe their top prospect for Barbie? Do you think Dallas regrets dealing a 2nd for Domi? There were guys they could have picked up that would have cost far less than Timo that could have tipped this series. They were swept, but 2 games were OT and tonight was basically OT. This loss is on their front office.

I think the reasoning is the refs assumed the cats were just gonna score again 4 periods later and figured they’d save everyone the time.
