Only in Toronto lol. Carolina finished 2nd in the league in the standings, which earned them the path they got. And Carolina beat the 3rd best team in the league in 5 games to get to the conference finals. All of this without 2 of their 3 best scorers, and their best defenseman going down. Carolina's a team of depth, unlike some unnamed top-heavy teams. You take any team's 2nd and 3rd best scorers off their roster in these playoffs, they probably won't look that good or probably even win a round, much less make a conference final. My question to you is, if Carolina's not that good, who is?
We live in a world where everyone wants to claim their team is a contender, but truthfully few teams are.

Boston was the only team to win more than a game vs Florida. I'd take them over the overrated Canes too.

But before you try to hit me with some low brow Leafs chirp, just ask any other Leafs fan I'm the #1 critic of that shitshow

(FWIW, any splitting hairs about tripping calls and borderline GI is kinda dumb in a sweep. Loser baby shit. Panthers won fair and square 4-0 lol.)
CANES aren't coming back from 3-0. It's plays and calls like this that leave you no margin for error. I did think it was a GI, because Freddy can't push off to the right, you can see there is a moment in the replay where he double clutches on the push off.

Carolina just lacked the punch. They didn't even play poorly I thought, although hard to take any solace in getting swept.

Maybe with Svechnikov and Pacioretty they could have made more of a series out of it but in my mind they badly need another top line producer. I'd put together an offer for Meier or someone else similarly aged and otherwise not change much.

It backfired badly for the Rangers. Sometime it’s also better to not break what works
Rangers made dumb moves to appease their owner. They didn't need guys they dealt for and they weren't improvement over what they had. But obviously, dealing picks/prospects is not without risk.

Bobrovsky:

3-1 against Boston (only lost his first game)
4-1 against Toronto
4-0 against Carolina

Safe to say he's on a heater. The decision to ride Bob in the playoffs changed the Panthers entire season.
The minute Lyon blinked, it was ride or die Bob. Mega thanks to Lyon for closing the gap, that shouldn’t be forgotten.

Vegas is already in so deep that they really have no choice but to just continue to bet the farm and go for it, they have pretty much nothing for the future (Zach Dean wasn’t going to save them). At least Carolina has a young core that has a long future. With that said, I agree, at some point you have to take risks.
they have young talent, but aho, turbo, pesce, and skej UFA after coming season. burns and slavin the following one. their window could close real quick.

Canes got what they deserved. Everyone knew they needed to add another scorer after Patches got hurt again. They were like, "Nah, we don't do rentals. We are too smart for that. We have the secret sauce."

And then another key guy got hurt and they were toothless. Who could have seen that coming?

Oh wait, everybody outside of Raleigh did!
So Name me WHO we should have gotten Seriously. Name me the guy.. I'd love t know.. I mean the rumored ask from us for Meier included Jarvis and Nich... Did we miss not getting Bertuzzi? sure... But seriously.. Who was making up for Patches and Svech...And wouldn't have gone for way more then You'd probably accept Cause yeah I'd Love to have gotten McDavid :P (sorry Edmonton fans.. )

That tells me the Pirates spent a lot of time sucking and the overall play favoured the Yankees a lot. Not the case in this series.
Sports is results oriented. I have mad respect for Canes to play 4 close games with injury after injury. Kudos to Panthers. They're the victors. Canes fought hard, have nothing to be ashamed of

Books gave me even money on Fla so I'll take my 75 beans and let it ride on Vegas tomorrow

I don't need to insult the Toronto, because quite frankly it's too easy. Again, Carolina had the 2nd best record in the league and made the conference finals. That alone does not make them overrated. And you seem to be casually overlooking missing 2 of their 3 best scorers, and was without Teuvo for most of the 1st round and all of the 2nd round. Carolina's depth was what got them as far as they did, and I can argue no team that made the playoffs is built to win 2 rounds with what Carolina was missing.

Barbashev, Domi, Bertuzzi, Dadnynov, JVR, the list goes on. there were lots of guys available who would have cost much less than Timo.
