Perhaps, but injuries happen. Svech is great player and woulda helped, but so might have Barbashev or Domi or Bertucci or whomever. They had picks and prospects and cap space they coulda insured themselves against it but decided not to. And to be clear, I do feel bad for their fans.
Well they were in on Timo and ultimately balked at the price. But hey, at least they had Puuljarvi ready to go if needed.

Florida is going to be well rested, possibly up to 2 weeks rest. Huge advantage Florida. Vegas needs to finish off the Stars tomorrow. Then up to 2 weeks of no hockey until the cup final? That would suck.

If you had bet on the Panthers when they were down 1-3 to Boston you'd be making some serious bank right now...

The series definitely wasn't as easy as a 4 game sweep suggests. All games won by one goal. These were some damn good battles, and who could forget that game 1 which was the best game of the POs imo. Never would have imagined a sweep especially after that..

It's a shame about Carolina and their injuries, really unlucky. Missing arguably 2 of their best goal scorers and then their best player in game 4. Honestly very impressive they made it this far and maybe would have made it all the way under different circumstances. Personally, if I were a canes fan I'd be proud of the team for the most part.

I posted in the Canes boards, I wonder what would’ve happened if the Lomberg goal in OT1 in Game 1 hadn’t been called off. Certainly would’ve been a less demoralization loss for the Canes and a less energizing, confidence inducing win for the Panthers. Silly thing to think about. I’m sure the Panthers would’ve still won the series, but maybe not a sweep lol. Felt like that 4OT win set the tone for the rest of the series.

Bill Zito is an absolute killer. I'm a huge fan of what this guy has done in his time as a GM.

Not just the Tkachuk trade but look at all the talent he's picked up since he came on. Verhaege, Reinhart, Montour, Duclair, Bennett, even getting contributions from guys like Mahura and Lomberg. He didn't blow it up and wait for a draft lottery pretty boy to hope to win. Zito unquestionably has one of the best eyes for talent in the league. He sees guys being under utilized and goes right after them, often getting great assets for below what they're worth. That's exactly how you should run a hockey team.

Not sure if I ever said it, but with limited viewing, I was fairly convinced Tkachuk was not a consistent 100 point player.

Boy was I wrong. Guy is pretty much every you want in a player, especially in the playoffs.

Tkachuk making the entire hockey world eat crow.

Tkachuk >>>>>>>>>> Gaudreau and it's not even close.
