As a neutral fan who tuned into the last 5 minutes of the last few games, with no context at all made me laugh at the reffing. One blatant high stick in the head is a non call in one game because 'playoff hockey', one blatant trip in the last minute is called 'because you have to call it'.

Glad I'm not a fan of Carolina or that'd suck

I agree with Elliotte that I don't like seeing the series end on that call, but the stick hit the skate. Ticky tack sure but ultimately It's a trip.

Unfortunate timing but it's for sure a regular season penalty.
Trips a trip but either way the Canes also had 4 pp chances and scored on none. 1 powerplay goal could have been the difference in momentum/outcomes

Goalies are so voodoo. Who would've predicted that Bob after the regular season that he had would now be playing out of his mind and leading his team to the finals??

Roy had the worst regular season of his career in 92-93 I think, he was close to being benched at some points although the offense mostly bailed him out I think he had like a .888 save percentage

Meh. It’s a trip alright but I don’t love calling it in that particular moment. You’re basically already in OT and usually they’ll let virtually everything short of manslaughter go in Ot.

This is why NJD or CAR were never going far. Too soft. They watched their best man get annihilated and did nothing.
Always with oversimplifications. Devils have a young inexperienced core and had questionable goaltending through the season that turned into just bad goaltending. Lost to an experienced playoff group that had mostly been together playing the same system a long time

Canes lost a bunch of close games at least two of which you could say they looked better, and they’re plagued with injuries to their top scorers

Losing Slavin would have hurt either way, but fighting or hitting more wouldn’t have brought their scorers back to health or solved Bob

Two good teams enter, only one can win. Old story

We’ll keep in mind Svech was still playing, he very well could have made the difference.
Perhaps, but injuries happen. Svech is great player and woulda helped, but so might have Barbashev or Domi or Bertucci or whomever. They had picks and prospects and cap space they coulda insured themselves against it but decided not to. And to be clear, I do feel bad for their fans.

The series definitely wasn't as easy as a 4 game sweep suggests. All games won by one goal. These were some damn good battles, and who could forget that game 1 which was the best game of the POs imo. Never would have imagined a sweep especially after that..

It's a shame about Carolina and their injuries, really unlucky. Missing arguably 2 of their best goal scorers and then their best player in game 4. Honestly very impressive they made it this far and maybe would have made it all the way or at the very least taken us to more games under different circumstances. Personally, if I were a canes fan I'd be proud of the team for the most part.

That’s not the way it works, though.
