Also this is still a horrible deal. It’s unlikely statistically that these first round picks will be as good as Brady. The 9th overall will be the best pick and a lot of them end up busting.
The 9th OA is a good pick. But the rest are a just statistically a coin flip at best. More valuable as trading chips, than using them in the draft unless Ottawa wants to do full rebuild.

Sens have assets to improve the depth and moved off a player who wanted out. The return is good for that known. Sens can win with the roster they have in a division that is not a good as a couple years ago.

Enjoy the shit show, Florida fans.

I could not be happier to be rid of Brady. He was a distraction. He was distracted. He is not the player the media has made him out to be at all.
I’m so glad we could take this distraction off your hands. Thanks watch what we do with your distraction.

You can say all you like that you hate Brady, and you won this trade. There are no winners here if you're a fan of a Canadian team.

I am bracing for the next Team USA player to ship out. It might be Matthews for all we know.

Pro sports is like this. People cater to out of touch egos.

I don’t understand this line of thinking. Why is it ok for teams to move players wherever it suits the organization, but if a player wants out all of a sudden they have “out of touch egos”?

No way Brady leaves Ottawa. Look at all the weddings he goes to every summer. He loves it in Ottawa. Matthews will ask to leave long before Brady ever leaves.
Looks Like Ottawa has now entered the Knies sweepstakes.

Ottawa made the best of a bad situation. If he had no trade protection, I'm sure they could have improved the deal a bit, but they had to play the cards they were dealt. I really hope Florida has a tough couple of seasons in a few years and Ottawa ends up with #1 overall. Even though it hurts my Leafs, it's nice to see some karma in the world.

I think the Sens got max return (in futures) for a guy that quickly became a massive distraction in and out of the locker room. There was clearly enough interest to facilitate the return they got. From a player perspective, it's unfortunate to lose a key player in their prime though. We'll see if they make these picks or try and parlay them into a ready replacement for Tkachuk.

I don't think his Ego is going to handle not being the biggest dog in the locker room.

Have you seen him around his older brother? He is the younger brother in EVERY sense of the word. Guy can't even stand up for himself around Matthew.
If he can’t even stand up for himself around Matthew then that conflicts with your statement that is ego isn’t going to handle being the biggest dog.

So maybe you don’t know what you’re talking about and Brady will thrive playing on a line with his brother lol

This is quite delusional, the Sens are now a bottom dweller without Brady

Also this is still a horrible deal. It’s unlikely statistically that these first round picks will be as good as Brady. The 9th overall will be the best pick and a lot of them end up busting.
They're not a bottom dweller without Tkachuk, he was a great complimentary piece but there are 3 or 4 players on the team that are much more important to their success than Brady. Media always puts it out there like he's the engine that drive the bus; he never was and can't do that anyway. Every time he "dragged this team on his back" he just got dumber and dragged his ass to the penalty box.

He does not have the ability to control the game, even when he calms down and focuses on what he does best. He's definitely impactful though. That said, they're still going to be a very difficult team to beat this season and more changes will be coming

Fun. Any Panthers fans able to share what their depth chart looks like now?

Mine would be:

Verhaeghe-Barkov-Reinhart
B. Tkacuk- Bennett- M. Tkachuk
Luostarinen-Lundell-Marchand
Gadjovich-Boqvist-Rodridgues

Forsling-Ekblad
Mikkola-Jones
Kulikov-Balinskis

XXXX
XXXX

Some have put Brady with Barkov and put Verhaeghe on 2nd LW to balance speed on top two lines.

Id assume one or both of Boqvist and Rodrigues are moved to get to $11.5 million in cap space to address both goalie positions and a possible 4C add.

There were rumors the locker room played a role, and some fans were already annoyed after a podcast where his dad mocked players for being “soft” (“my finger hurts, I miss a game”)—which was bad timing since their goalie had just taken time off for mental health reasons.
this is the most disturbing thing about them. I don't like that active players have podcasts but even less I like when parents of players get involved in team issues.

The 3 stooges did that podcast, and nothing was the same since...........issues in the room for sure.
There is more to this story than we all realize.....
Agreed. I think this made me raise an eyebrow at "how can he let that one slide? it should be obvious he has to say something", but I didn't get as offended as some folks here. I think his "pro-america" chirping at the World Cup of hockey was more "anti-canadian" than anything, which is fine and fair play - except that he IS the captain of the capital's team at the time. I think it's been building for a while

If I'm the owners I:

-grandfather the existing nmc's, those are in place and they stay
-lobby to change the maximum to a 10 team NTC going forward. That's PLENTY.
-reduce the entry level contract for 18-21 year olds from 3 years to 2 years
-increase playoff revenue split

That's a generous compromise.

The owners dont want to do this. ELC's give them cost control. They'd probably rather have them run four years if were being honest.

Ewww. That is just disgusting.

Both teams did good. Sens hauling the picks was best value out of tough spot and Panthers keep on adding to their powerhouse.

And uniting Tkachuk brothers is good PR and story for the league and sports.

Nice trade. Hopefully more to come, this could finally be an highly interesting off-season.
