Way too many posts to read through, so I'm going to say what's probably already been said.

This is a massive win for Ottawa--excellent haul, they now have 3 first round picks this year. Florida massively overpaid. Good luck to the GM when it comes time to extend these boys...

It will be trivially easy?

Everyone is signed long term, and the Brady money comes from the cap increase. They're set.

You saw a cup final that featured Carter Hart, Freddy Andersen and Brandon Bussi.

At this point, you need serviceable goaltending to win a cup
Serviceable is the key word. If Carolina didn't have Bussi to fall back on who knows what may have happened in the finals. And same goes for Vegas - Hart was brutal in the finals but he was their only option. If the Knights had Logan Thompson that could have been enough to tip the scales in their favor.

Now florida needs to figure out how to get Hellebyuck and next years cup win is guaranteed. Nice little haul of picks for ott though. I'm guessing all of those picks will be dealt this summer for some talent.
Injuries happen though. Barkov hasn’t exactly been Ironman, same with Tkachuk. Nothing is guarenteed in hockey

He sucked as in the play offs.....Panthers paid a lot. If Im a Sens fan Im pretty happy with this deal.
Sens looked just as good ir better when he was out of line uo with one if his frequent injuries
This is quite delusional, the Sens are now a bottom dweller without Brady

Also this is still a horrible deal. It’s unlikely statistically that these first round picks will be as good as Brady. The 9th overall will be the best pick and a lot of them end up busting.

Why don't the people that live there love Ottawa?

Realistically, it's a good place to raise kids and have a family, but it lacks top-tier activities and has bad winters. I'd say it's mediocre in a lot of ways and often not great or awful.

If you're a millionaire, it's probably very boring compared to other 'top' destinations.

Why are you assuming the Sens do nothing with their cap though? It's too early to say much about their roster.

Why would they not be scared of the reigning Stanley cup winners? Every team is.

You realize we don’t mean actually “scared” in the way a 5 year old is scared there are monsters under there bed. We mean “scared” as Carolina is obviously the top dog in the league and will be for several years to come.
We just annihilated them 8 of 9 playoff games in our route to back to back cups. Only reason Carolina won is because Barkov got injured. Nobody in Florida is worried about Carolina at all.

Tkachuk is more than points. When healthy he's usually near a point per game, but he peppers shots and is hellacious on the forecheck.

That being said, he's hurt a lot and hasn't shown much in the playoffs.

I think he'll fit in Flordia well. Doesn't need to be the guy. Can be a complimentary piece with a bit less pressure. Plus his brother.

But that being said, he needs to be healthy. If he continues to have injury problems, this looks better for ottawa. And he's more easy to replace moving forward if you consider his injury history and games played the past couple seasons.

THey still need to replace him. THose picks don't help much if they want to make the playoffs again and hopefully not play carolina
I don't really see right off the bat where he's going to slide in in Florida. Like you said he's always hurt and so is his brother, and bobs gone.. it's gonna be interesting. I'll be pretty shocked if they can make the playoffs this season.

Fun trade for the Panthers, they already had one of the better top 9's that won a cup in recent memory. Adding Brady to the mix is filthy. And you know he is committed to this team when his brother is already there and he wants to win a cup.

That said, not having a 1st round pick in 4 consecutive drafts is risky. If there's any significant injuries or fall offs that they need to react to, they don't have any ammo for trades beyond of what you can get for a 2nd round pick and obviously not much help internally from young guys stepping in. Cross your fingers the team holds up.

What's more interesting, what are the Sens plans? Trade? Offer-sheet? Go after Tuch? They've got the cap space and assets to do whatever they want/are able to do.
Nah, they’ll just have more guys in the league force their way there for Pennies on the dollar regardless

You can say all you like that you hate Brady, and you won this trade. There are no winners here if you're a fan of a Canadian team.

I am bracing for the next Team USA player to ship out. It might be Matthews for all we know.

Pro sports is like this. People cater to out of touch egos.

They can use the picks to acquire players. It also frees up cap space to get a player in ufa.

Somebody get this guy another drink.
Everybody. EVERYBODY. Knows Carolina’s cup has an asterisk on it since they didn’t face Florida in route to the cup. They danced their way in because the true top dog was recovering from three Stanley cup finals in a row. Winning under that circumstance and pretending they did it hard is a joke. You will find out real fast how much of a joke Carolina is to Florida.

Let's be real here: Florida is doing this now because they want to have the last laugh on an emerging Carolina team that has far more of a second wave of talent coming up (Nikishin, Stankoven, Blake), all of their draft picks, and massive cap space for their own blockbuster addition. Florida very much lacks the first two things, but it doesn't mean they are not dangerous. As a result, they want to go all in for ~3 years or so before their core rots out of contention status. This is about as good a play as they possibly can make to hold off the Carolina machine.
The second wave you guys keep touting (more like a second puddle) is not gonna do anything to Florida because Florida doesn’t build through the draft anymore, they just attract free agents in their prime. Nobody in Florida is worried about a team they regularly swept in playoffs

lol this is not a good return. They traded him for a bunch of magic beans. Not even one marginally quantifiable asset.
3 1sts and a 2nd one being a top ten unprotected, that's a very good haul for a good who was going to leave in two years anyways. Instead of losing him for nothing like the Leafs did Marner they bit the bullet and decided to just deal him now, with those 3 firsts they have the assets to aquire a top 6 winger easily, or restock the cupoards neither of which is a bad option. This was a very good trade for the Sens as long at they can still land a top 6 winger, Jason Robertson is a sen by the draft im betting.

The 9th OA is a good pick. But the rest are a just statistically a coin flip at best. More valuable as trading chips, than using them in the draft unless Ottawa wants to do full rebuild.
