Ultimately he told management his intentions and Ottawa was able to avoid a Tavares/NYI situation. Sens fans shouldn't consider him a villain nearly as much as maybe an anti-hero of sorts.

May every playoff that Brady has for the Panthers be as effective as this past year. The only thing of note he did was start a fight with a 37 year old who had fought once in the past decade on the opening faceoff of the series...and then lost.

Both of the Tkachuk's are fakes and posers. Mouthguard chewing guys that would rather chirp than show up. All attitude and bluster until someone shows up that will punch them in their weak faces.

Both of them know that they are too mentally weak to succeed in a real hockey market. Both just floaters that dont want to be humiliated when they have to answer the call in a city that understands what commitment to hockey really means.

I am looking forward to when real hockey markets are finally rid of this era of fake hockey "superstars".
I’m an Oilers fan and even I can take off my rose-coloured glasses long enough to admit that Matthew Tkachuk is an absolute stud. Why the Oilers ever thought that drafting Puljujarvi instead of him was a smart choice, I’ll never get.

Brady Tkachuk otoh is about as overrated as it gets. But If his last name wasn’t Tkachuk, he’d have half the reputation that he has.

This. Friedman just said on the pod that Staois flew to meet Brady (since he left to have a child) and asked what the chances are he’d stay once his contract was up. Brady was apparently honest and it got Ottawa a slew of picks.

Both brothers were honest and their respective teams were able to avoid Tavares or even Marner like exits. I get it, hate away, but at least those teams weren’t empty handed.

Wait a good Canadian boy didn’t re-sign with his team when he was captain? Oh the horror American teams should stop drafting Canadians. If Brady told the Sens he wasn’t signing in two years they could have kept him and built a better team to get him to stay. Brady could have said yes I’ll sign, then bailed. He gave them 2 years to do either, then controlled where he went with his NMC when they decided to trade him. What exactly does he owe the Senators other than honoring the contract he signed?

I remember seeing Florida in 2018 against Boston during spring break.

That arena was absolutely dead.
Cool story. And Chicago was empty before their runs, Pittsburgh almost moved, Winnipeg has issues, Toronto has empty seats when they stink. What’s the point? 99% of the league would have a similar history if they had the same shitty ownership history of the Panthers.

Find to find some new, corny jokes, the attendance once old and lame.

I'm gonna look it up. I'd love a trip down there next winter.

edit:

Ángel R. Cabada is a town and municipality located in the Mexican state of Veracruz. Situated in the lush Papaloapan River region between Lerdo de Tejada and San Andrés Tuxtla, it is known for its tropical landscapes, sugar production, and proximity to coastal cliffs and beaches

sounds like a nice place!
A" real hockey market" according to at least one poster.

A real hockey market has nothing to do with selling out games. It's about living with the spotlight on you and embracing your HOCKEY community. Run away to FLA losers.
That’s horse shit. There are Panthers fans, generations now, who are die hard Panthers fans, who have cried over their highs and lows. Just because there may be fewer of us doesn’t make us a non-hockey market. Ignorant ass comment.

Sens got the deal of a lifetime. He wasn't gonna re-sign, 3 firsts and a 2nd for a player who got 80 pts once.. that's actually insane. Ya probably shitty for the division but best for their team (imo)
Tkachuk is more than points. When healthy he's usually near a point per game, but he peppers shots and is hellacious on the forecheck.

That being said, he's hurt a lot and hasn't shown much in the playoffs.

I think he'll fit in Flordia well. Doesn't need to be the guy. Can be a complimentary piece with a bit less pressure. Plus his brother.

But that being said, he needs to be healthy. If he continues to have injury problems, this looks better for ottawa. And he's more easy to replace moving forward if you consider his injury history and games played the past couple seasons.

THey still need to replace him. THose picks don't help much if they want to make the playoffs again and hopefully not play carolina

I'm gonna say it... I was ambivalent about the Panthers as a team, but with both Tkachuks there now... They might be the first team I actually dislike in a long while.

I'm hoping they crash and burn next year too. ;) Their roster is so stacked now.

Before this trade I felt acquiring Brady was a luxury. Especially with Knight traded to Chicago 2 seasons ago and Bob looking like Fourgoalsky most nights.

But, if there's any GM, of a team I follow, to "trust the process" it's Bill Zito. May be out of a big name goalie, but I think he still has a few tricks up his sleeve (2nd round picks) to acquire a 2nd tier goalie and ship out some contracts to still make it all fit.

Fun trade for the Panthers, they already had one of the better top 9's that won a cup in recent memory. Adding Brady to the mix is filthy. And you know he is committed to this team when his brother is already there and he wants to win a cup.

That said, not having a 1st round pick in 4 consecutive drafts is risky. If there's any significant injuries or fall offs that they need to react to, they don't have any ammo for trades beyond of what you can get for a 2nd round pick and obviously not much help internally from young guys stepping in. Cross your fingers the team holds up.

What's more interesting, what are the Sens plans? Trade? Offer-sheet? Go after Tuch? They've got the cap space and assets to do whatever they want/are able to do.
