This came out of nowhere for me even if Matthew was there.

Didn't think they would have had the cap, but apparently they still have over 7 millions to sign 2 goalies and a bottom-line defenseman, so will probably be no issue.
Because they let their allstar goalie go

Still remains to be seen how they solve their goaltending.

Why are people so obsessed with that?

Fla will likely soon have around 10M in cap space and we just saw Bussi win a Cup, constantly we see bad/average goalies go to the finals and win

Colorado is another example, when you have extremely stacked roster the goaltending loses value

Or Vegas, they constantly go to the finals without high end goaltending

The bar isn’t high to beat the goalies from this years Finals but I’m still convinced they add Helle and still won’t give up anything of value
Bro what lol. You think the jets are gonna give up helle to Florida for what exactly? They have nothing to trade now...

He played how many games again?

Vegas wouldn't even have made the playoffs in the Atlantic division and I feel like Carolina's goaltending has been viewed as one of the primary reasons they haven't broken through until now. So I don't think it's meaningless - but sure, they won't need a Vasielievsky to be a top contender.

People keep talking like you need Shest/Helle goaltending to get to the finals yet every year teams who don’t have elite goalies go to the finals

Vegas won their Cup without an elite goalie, Colorado won their Cup with maybe the worst playoff goaltending we’ve seen, Carolina won their Cup with a 3rd string goalie, Blues won with Binnington who’s never been seen as a top tier goalie

Florida has a better roster than Carolina and today clearly better roster, they don’t need Helle to get to the finals, they are filled with 2way forwards like Barkov, Reinhart, Lundell, Luostarinen, Marchand who make life easier for a goalie

If anyone thinks Zito doesn’t know they don’t have a goalie or didn’t have a plan in place when he made this move have never watched him work

They’ll address the goaltending and it doesn’t have to be Helle or bust

I’m sure yesterday the same would have been said about getting Brady. Helle goes to GMKC and demands a trade (probably already has) but has a NMC so only wants to go to Fla. they flip a few UFAs to be out like Rodriguez, Boqvist, Gad out for picks and replace them with one year league minimum deals for UFAs that want to win a cup

Hellebuyck is still got 4 years at the same aav as Brady, won the hart and 2 vezinas, and basically the gold medal for America lol. Why would the jets just give him to Florida without even a single 1st rounder when Brady got 3? The math isn't mathing

As I said, still remains to be seen what they do with their goaltending. The fact that you would feel 100% comfortable with a Skinner/Cossa tandem doesn't mean everyone has to.

Once Tkachuk went full MAGA, there's no turning back. kudos to Staios for not dragging it out. Its a decent deal, wish the 2030 1st is a year or 2 earlier though. Sens dont need these picks, they are going to a team rebuilding.... I can see Vancouver being very interested. these picks would've been more valuable if its 2027
which one... and when did he/they do that?

Goalies never hold as much value but I’m still figuring Florida put together their scraps and some 2nds to get a couple of firsts to give them.

If anyone had said yesterday that Samoskevich + 2x 1sts would get Brady they’d be laughed at.

Hart trophy and 2 vezinas. Also how many players got the Presidential medal of freedom? Lol. Good luck with that 🫡
