The bar isn’t high to beat the goalies from this years Finals but I’m still convinced they add Helle and still won’t give up anything of value
A large part of Brady's decision to go to Florida included playing with his brother, so this trade by itself doesn't mean Florida's still a prime location. If they get Hellebuyck (or another top goalie), then yeah, that would be much better evidence. It would obviously give the team much better odds of getting back to the playoffs.

Sure feels this way. Same ole teams make out like bandits

This. I’m not going to cry about the advantages teams like Vegas and Florida have had for the past few seasons in attracting players but let’s maybe chill on the glazing of their management. “Zito even made it top 10 protected, what a negotiator “

He sucked as in the play offs.....Panthers paid a lot. If Im a Sens fan Im pretty happy with this deal.
Sens looked just as good ir better when he was out of line uo with one if his frequent injuries
He was out the door already and didn't have his heart in it anymore.
They also thay about M.Tkachuk btw, until he got to play second fiddle in Florida.

Imagine trading him in the division
Why not.....he sucked ass in his first play offs. Invisible in the Olympics. Not a first line center on more than half rhe teams in the league.
But I think Sens should have got one player included in the deal that steps right into their line up....

I'm sure Zito, the best GM in hockey, knows that he doesn't have goalies signed and has a plan for it. Basically any veteran decent goalie is an option at this point.
Skinner / Talbot tandem coming up.
Those 2 prospects couldn't be further apart. Hensler was a good pick. Boucher was... Not. Lol
Maybe Hensler is decent but hardly someone to hang your hat on to replace a guy on Tkchuks level..

Fun trade for the Panthers, they already had one of the better top 9's that won a cup in recent memory. Adding Brady to the mix is filthy. And you know he is committed to this team when his brother is already there and he wants to win a cup.

That said, not having a 1st round pick in 4 consecutive drafts is risky. If there's any significant injuries or fall offs that they need to react to, they don't have any ammo for trades beyond of what you can get for a 2nd round pick and obviously not much help internally from young guys stepping in. Cross your fingers the team holds up.

What's more interesting, what are the Sens plans? Trade? Offer-sheet? Go after Tuch? They've got the cap space and assets to do whatever they want/are able to do.
Also Brady is just 26. Awesome trade for Florida. They gonna be back sooner than later.

Clearly Ottawa is win now mode Im gonna assume they want players for those draft picks.

My first thought was "Sens rebuilding with the new owner?" (and new arena), but now im thinking reset/retool and that they will be very interesting to watch in the McTavish and Robertson trades.

Did they not want samosaskevich? Weird how Florida won that deal and Ottawa would have been better off with him than the 25th pick

Well this shifts any decisions the bruins are about to make. Happy they didn’t pull a Toronto move. Complete waste of asset money with Florida about to cruise through the playoffs.

That is out of nowhere.
Hmm… I live near Ottawa, so maybe it’s different, but I definitely saw this coming.

There were rumors the locker room played a role, and some fans were already annoyed after a podcast where his dad mocked players for being “soft” (“my finger hurts, I miss a game”)—which was bad timing since their goalie had just taken time off for mental health reasons.

I was expecting at least one roster player coming back, and i dont get the sense that the Sens are in a rebuild. It'll be interesting to see if those picks get drafted

Sens got a good return and could even this trade with the 9th pick alone! We will see.

As far as Brady, he's going to be a force no matter how much you like/dislike the Tkachuk brothers.

Panthers will be even more physically stronger on the forecheck now. Barkov will be back and all of their core has extra time off to rest with no playoffs this year. They are going to be in the top 3 of the Atlantic next year again.

Only thing that might hold them back is more injuries. Aside from Lundell, most of their core is around that age 30. Those are good years for lots of players and then again, they are also years where players get injured more.

19 players with $7M in cap space left. Bob coming back? Probably but they might have to give him the Marchand contract. Lots of team looking for goalies and one team could decide to overpay him for just one year.

The 3 stooges did that podcast, and nothing was the same since...........issues in the room for sure.
There is more to this story than we all realize.....

It's really getting pathetic how many players are requesting trades and then listing some combination of Florida, Vegas, Carolina and Tampa as the locations they'd accept trades to. Maybe it's always been like this and I just forgot but I can't recall stars throwing their hands up and then specifically requesting to be moved to Colorado, Detroit or New Jersey in the late 90s.

Shocker: players want to play for the most successful teams...

7 points in 6 games leading the team sucked ass? 5 points in 6 games was invisible? Pretty sure Florida isn't acquiring him to play center.

Good points..........one piece of caution about the Cats...........their team is much older than most teams.....they are dialed in to win now, and they have a team full of 30 plus year olds.......this could be tougher as the year goes on...........but no doubt about it, they are back in the playoffs picture.
Barkov alone does that.......

Way too many posts to read through, so I'm going to say what's probably already been said.

This is a massive win for Ottawa--excellent haul, they now have 3 first round picks this year. Florida massively overpaid. Good luck to the GM when it comes time to extend these boys...
