The modern day version of the BroadStreet bullies.

I think we have a really obnoxious team, one that other teams have said they hate playing against (forget who the Pittsburgh player was who complained about the Panthers playing hard in October), but the Broad Street Bullies will remain in a class of their own, probably forever. Beat up the Soviet hockey team so badly that they didn't want to come out for the second period and had to be threatened with financial damages in order to return to the ice.

Have to wonder what was offered for him elsewhere but we may never know. I appreciate Ottawa took what they felt was probably the best package, but they're a wildcard team that traded him within division and to a club due for a bounce back year.

I think the ideal outcome if that they move those picks for Robertson, but I still don't like the philosophy of strengthening a rival when you're a team just starting to turn the corner.

as a Leafs fan, I think you would be better served with
B. Tkacuk - Barkov - M. Tkachuk
Verhaeghe - Bennett - Reinhart

load that top line, and Barkov can counter the brothers running around and always being out of position better and 2nd line could feast
in your version, the 2nd line will take/draw a penalty per shift
Barkov and Reinhart are so good together at shutting down top lines and the two Tkachuks with Barkov is a very slow line.

you dont 'need' 2 Selke candidates on one line, unless you plan on using them in a complete matchup situation

Reinhart has clicked well with Barkov and Lundell since he was traded here.
I honestly don't recall him paired with Bennett for any long stretches. Even last year with Barkov gone for the entire season I want to say they were rarely together.
With a healthy core, I don't see that changing from Barkov's wing as Marchand has fit in nicely with Luostar and Lundell. Both Finns are two way responsible players and Marchy can be that spark plug cheat for offense level winger.

With Barkov and Reinhart, the left winger can also cheat way more for offensive chances, and well Reinhart has a good shot as well, and can be clutch scoring goals.

Once Florida was in on Brady, he was only going to Florida. The other three teams he put on a list were only going to come into play if Florida wasn't an option. I'll be very surprised if Robertson is their guy. Too much uncertainty on the contract and doubt he'd sign an extension in Ottawa. My guess is McTavish or Knies. Both have term left and neither have trade protection.

Knies would be a great get for Ottawa. On a great contract too, and younger.
I wouldn't want to pay Robertson ~14mil to retain him. Think he's a great winger, but it's quite the cost in assets and $ to secure him.

Gotta be McTavish.

the TK's with Bennett will be must watch TV (i'm a Leafs fan but watch a ton) but, thats a major a game potential line, though, also the more likely to happen combo.

I think this is a great trade for Ottawa.

The Sens probably weren't going to get much better than they have been the past year or two, and Tkachuk is a douchebag who apparently wasn't well liked.

I get why Florida did it, and Tkachuk probably does well for them as he won't be relied upon as much to be the top 1 or 2 offensive players.

Overall, hopefully this is the classic lose / lose trade.

Michael Russo tweeted that the Minnesota Wild put together a massive package for Brady but, despite the Wild being one of the teams on his list, he decided in the end that he would only waive his NTC for the Panthers.

As a Sens fan, not sure I want to see what the Wild's offer was lol

That said, what the Panthers sent us for Brady is still massive considering that they were the only destination he would waive for, there hasn't been 3 first round picks traded to one team in one transaction in almost 30 years I believe.

The Leafs finished dead last in the best division in hockey....That just got much better.

Yeah - They should keep trying to win now.
This doesn't really make any sense. If the argument is that Florida just got much better, then by extension Ottawa just got much worse, so that seems pretty neutral for every other team in the Atlantic. Same with Toronto getting much better with Raddysh and Tampa getting much worse. These teams are all re-arranging deck chairs. Meanwhile, Montreal can laugh all the way to first in the division.

I can't see any team in the east pushing these cats to a game 6. They going to the finals with ease with this lineup look how friggin deep it is all they need is a goalie like Carter hart type someone serviceable and they got this in the bag. Zito hit a absolute grand slam here friggin Brady T is only 26 old they have him for a decade.

Mate, we made the playoffs DESPITE Brady.

He's going to be good for Florida, but he was dead weight here.
He had problems finishing from his chances but at least he was generating them. According to moneypuck his 5v5-on-ice expected goal share was 61.8% (actual goal share was only 52.1% due to combination of goaltending and bad finishing).
These kind of stats don't scream dead weight to me.

this is the most disturbing thing about them. I don't like that active players have podcasts but even less I like when parents of players get involved in team issues.
I think the unease i felt with M and B's embarassed laughter at Senior's comments was probably because they've had those discussions before. They couldnt step in because they would be hypocrites if they did.

Reuniting the brothers is fun and all but it's not what Florida needs. On paper looks like great depth having 5 or 6 first line players but there's only so much powerplay and ice time to go around and it never usually works out the way as planned.

Not sure how some can say this is a great trade for Ottawa. You lose a young power forward type player for a handful of magic beans. Late round first rounders are 50/50 at best to ever become anything. The 9th can become anything and probably doesn't play for a couple of years. Glad to see that POS gone though.
