Seems crazy from Ottawa's perspective to not get a player back. I would assume this is going to royally piss of every player on the roster even though it will look great in a few years
Not sure if that 9th overall is it a difference maker this goes south in a hurry they gotta hit that pick the others are dart board shots but anything can happen the cats have a sure thing here and is only friggin 26 years old. Zito is masterclass..

Well done for keeping it under wraps and maximizing the return on a player with one foot out the door. 3 1st round picks and a 2nd rounder 👏 (mind you that the 1st next year will be basically a 2nd).

I think getting 3 x first round picks should not be conflated with ONLY using those picks for draft purposes. Who is to say that Ottawa can't flip all those picks to get a decent current roster player? I would think that would be the plan; otherwise, they gave up a decent player to a division rival for unknown futures.

A number of teams with bare draft cupboards could certainly use those picks.

I would be shocked if the Sens keep all the picks. Sens needs NHL ready players to play top 6 minutes. A few teams are edging towards rebuild territory or already in it and I can see one them trading a 25ish player for the picks

Everybody. EVERYBODY. Knows Carolina’s cup has an asterisk on it since they didn’t face Florida in route to the cup. They danced their way in because the true top dog was recovering from three Stanley cup finals in a row. Winning under that circumstance and pretending they did it hard is a joke. You will find out real fast how much of a joke Carolina is to Florida.
You're not a winner just because the team you like is a winner. Quite the opposite actually

I'm a Panthers fan, big time, but you can't put an asterisk on Carolina's Cup because they won it fair and square. Carolina earned their championship whether we faced them or not. They beat who they had to beat to win the Cup.

Hmm… I live near Ottawa, so maybe it’s different, but I definitely saw this coming.

There were rumors the locker room played a role, and some fans were already annoyed after a podcast where his dad mocked players for being “soft” (“my finger hurts, I miss a game”)—which was bad timing since their goalie had just taken time off for mental health reasons.

I was expecting at least one roster player coming back, and i dont get the sense that the Sens are in a rebuild. It'll be interesting to see if those picks get drafted

It was more that he went to Florida, but hindsight is 20-20 now. I thought he would go to St. Louis.

Most teams and players don't make it far in the playoffs. I was a big Huberdeau fan, and don't blame him for not taking his team to the third round. The we just weren't ready isn't dishonest.
No it's not about "we just weren't ready to go far in the playoffs".

In 2022-23 and 2023-24 and even at times last season, when asked in a post-game interview about why they got blown out, Brady would say "we just weren't ready" (for the game).

This was DJ Smith's favorite line in 2022-23 lol.

As I said it's not on a macro scale "we weren't ready" it was a game-to-game thing.

Not sure how some can say this is a great trade for Ottawa. You lose a young power forward type player for a handful of magic beans. Late round first rounders are 50/50 at best to ever become anything. The 9th can become anything and probably doesn't play for a couple of years. Glad to see that POS gone though.
They won't use those picks. The question is to see what they acquire in a trade for them.

I'm the only one who think that Panthers did a bad move and that will be a huge distraction the new podcast of both brothers?!?! Don't get me wrong, Brady Tkachuk is a really good hockey player and MTL need a player like that, but he isn't a really good leader. The podcast of both brothers together in same team... that can make some distractions in the locker room.

Ottawa did well on that, they are going to lose him anyway. If they draft at 9th, they can draft something good (Hope they don't make a mistake like Tyler Boucher). They can trade the 25th and another pieces to a good roster players. They have cap room to put a offer sheet.

They are in a good position to make good deals.

"Distractions" happen when a team isnt playing well.... pretty sure that wont be the case.
