I'd disagree with you on proving sex assault is easy....in court it is usually one of the hardest things to get convictions on due to there often being minimal evidence (unless full sex assault kit/DNA and injuries are observed), witnesses or video/photos. In my experience in court often those charged are acquitted as it turns into a "he said she said" involving consent or the actual action. "I did not grab her butt" - "He grabbed my butt" well if there is nothing else to say it happened then most times the charges are stayed or the accused is acquitted as beyond a reasonable doubt is easy to bring into question.

I don't know much about this situation other than a video was taken involving consent, text message afterwards etc....but it will be a complicated one as a defense lawyer as from what I can see so far is from her texts she felt pressured and was intoxicated....that will hold weight to a jury or judge when surrounded by 5-8 hockey players.

I am disgusted with Hockey Canada in all of this....covering up something like this and allowing these players to get away with it for years is awful. They went on to NHL contracts and life all thinking they got away with what happened.....and us who pay our hockey registration fees PAID for them to sweep this under the rug. Its AWFUL
It gets harder the longer the alleged crime took place too.

It will be insanely difficult to prove this was rape. Especially considering the video that exists. Any good lawyer knows how to spin things against rape accusers. It's a story as old as time itself.

You must be at least 19 years old to drink alcohol in Ontario. He was 18 and an adult, just under the age of being able to get into a bar. This is my understanding.

You can be under 19 to get into a bar in Ontario. It just doesn’t usually happen because if someone is not of drinking age, and is caught drinking, the bar gets fined and can lose their liquor license. So they don’t take the chance (this does not apply to a place like Applebee’s or whatever).

There's no way the prosecution is going into this as a he said/she said only rape case. IMHO, someone turned or there is VIDEO evidence beyond a reasonable doubt she was unable to consent. No way they brought these charges without it being a slam dunk. JMHO.

EDIT: I'll add this...it wouldn't take much to get phone records. You can use that info alone to leverage certain players. Hey, if you don't tell us what you heard/know then we'll release these phone records to the general public and let them decide your fate. Not only can you see call and texts but where their phones were pinging. It is easy to triangulate.

Might be a good time for anybody that has a McLeod jersey to burn it. Quickly.

Imagine seeing someone rocking it in the arena. God speed to those idiots.
There's some ghoul Devils fan who had the audacity to wear one to a game against the Lightning, right after this whole thing broke, and McLeod took his LOA. He also got caught trying to groom a minor a while back. He needs his wig pushed in.

Plausible deniability. No. You hold their feet to the fire if they want to play in the NHL. Bettman needs to grow a sac and throw down the hammer. Stop babying everyone. Once you put the fear of losing millions...watch how fast they chirp.
You're not making sense and aren't being reasonable/ realistic

If McLeod is player 1 and king scumbag that makes me wonder about Formenton’s situation; was he the only player of the 5 who’s contract was up, or does the pizza guy whistle blower story have legs?

Either way, New Jersey taking L’s in this thing; they had 40% of the players and one of them was player 1

Can someone provide me a reminder on this part of the story?
"My guy got a text message from one of his teammates that there was a party going on with pizza, so he went up to the room,” the agent said. “He did not know how to process what was going on when he saw what was happening in the room. He did not know if this was consensual group sex or if it was a sexual assault.

“It’s true that he did not intervene and say stop. You can judge him for not intervening. What would you do in the same situation when you were a teenager? Is this something he should lose his career and reputation over?”

The agent, who requested anonymity to protect the identity of his client, said the player left the room after about 10 minutes.

What's weird to me is that the closer this got to charges being filed the better Mcleod got, He was on track for a career year and getting close to a faceoff % record.

Meanwhile Hart was regressing and losing his starter position and Dube was on track to have his worst season.

Does he just have nerves of steel?

You would think he'd be a twitchy mess and accidently shooting pucks into the stands.

Playing loose because it won’t matter

This is exactly someone you sacrifice to change future decisions.

Yeah, I said it. He will be outted. He will be ostracized. Again, it won't take much to get them to turn on each other. Someone used influence to drop the investigation...oh yeah...that's coming to light as well. Hockey is almost a religion in Canada. Time to break the spell. No one will be able to hide.
